Damn it , I hate doing this. What on earth is going on people? Look at last week. Yes the Notable Election week-this forum has almost looked like the good old days of 2001-excellent posts coming from all different angles and directions, hardly any spam on the forum, friendly discussions going on-it was something to marvel at- and I started posting again-surely thats enough to be happy :) But no, it all had to slowly slip away...
I can name only 2-3 decent posts that have appeared on this forum in the last few days, spammy topics appeared again. And to be honest, there is hardly anything worthy to reply to. Most of us do want to post here, but I simply didnt see any incentive too. How can 2 back-to-back weeks be so different from each other? Were people trying to get the attention of the other posters to get in with a chance for Notability?I dont think so-we are better than that....Why cant this forum be like it was for the whole duration of last week?
I understand that Ali's post has encouraged many of us to stop posting crap and start being useful by posting interesting threads and it worked!!But are you telling me Ali needs to do a post every other week to prevent people from spamming and just being stupid?

Like it was last year-it was arguably the best forum on SR last summer and autumn. WHy dont we put some effort into this and will not need more warnings from the staff. I mean if they notice we have a problem here, then this is just a further indication of there being a problem... Well I hope we can bring this forum back...

Yeah, things did get a whole lot better for a week and a bit, and in that time it was great. There was a time in there that you knew that when you came in here that there was going to be a topic that you could read and have a good discussion in it. It was just like what the place use to be like all that time ago, the place was fun again.
Now all of a sudden, its started to laspe again, there are still some excellent posts here now, but there are also lots of spam again taking its place and shoving the posts down the page and they are not getting replies. And when they dont get replies, the people dont come back, hence the reputation of the forum it gets at times. (maybe thats why there was so much about the election being discussed last week)
There is no point in everyone saying we want it back how it was a year ago, because alot of people back then arent around much anymore, there are only a few of us left. But thats still not really a reason for this, as the people in here are more than capable of coming up with good stuff, all of you have your talents, all of you are bright people. This place has the potentail to be a very good forum..its good now, but could be better, we could all improve in what we write.
But yeah, you can argue that this is only a forum, nothing really important...but then it must be, as we all come here, we all spend many hours posting here, so would it not be better if we could have fun, and do the one thing we come here to do, discuss games in away that we all enjoy, and one that is very good.
Lets just hope this topic is the kick we all needed, and lets get the place back up and better again, get us all known around SR.

I will post a few posts in the next few days after I do my 4(!!!!!!!!) CONSECUTIVE exams tomorrow. And yes we have to give it to those who are trying their best to make this forum a better place-we all know who they are.....
I couldn't agree with you more Triple H. Recently the forum had experienced something of rejuvenation. I feel I have made a contribution, and much credit must also go to people like Pro Evo, who is showing everyone why he is a notable, SpikeCast, yourself, KR, who I haven't seen spam once, Absolut Neo and inparticular Natbuc who I think have posted excellently in the last few weeks, or so. Sorry if I missed anyone out but their posts spring to mind. The warning worked for a while and the spammers (big_slow etc) left, but it is getting bad again. Just look at Vin.
