I will most probably go with BTOpenWorld or Freeserve (Already with them)
Anybody else know of any ISPs to go with that are better than these two?
I'm just waiting for Freeola though purly as a means of simplifying things. I wouldn't leave Pipex otherwise.
Nice low ping (usually 50ms or less) on UK public servers for UT and MOH (which sucks by the way).
I've never had any problems through Blue Yonder, you only get a ping if the server your connecting to is very slow, I got a ping of 3000 the other day while playing against Gaboo and 5 bots, Bots make a lot of difference.
*snarls at Gabbo for having GCSEs and not wanting to play UT* :) even after his GCSEs he'll be plugging away at Linux :D can't wait until Monday when I should be buying the bits for my PC!! wooo
I'd done all the questions I could do within an hour, so I had to sit there for another hour and be bored, apparently all my mates were the same..
Contention Ratio is the amount of people sharing the bandwidth, so gfor example on area may have 10mbps of bandwidth, so if 4 or 5 people have 512k cable, that's fine, they'll get their full bandwidth and still have some left for more people to sign up. However if 13 people have 512k cable in that area, and they're all using it to capacity at the same time, then there isnt enough bandwidth to go round, so things start to slow down.
Obviously those numbers aren't right, and as always I may be totally wrong, I've just sat a 2 hour maths exam and my brains decided it's time to have a kip I think..

I've had Blueyonder High Speed Internet Access for a good 9 months now but the only problem I have with it is the contention ration (i think that's what the technical name for "ping" is). Apparently it is too high so multi-user internet games suffer. I have problems with Unreal Tournament cos I fire and it takes a second or so for the bullet to hit the target. People on faster connections then find is easy to frag me.
However, I do share the connection with my three housemates through a Linksys 4 port router. This may have something to do with it although I doubt it because it isn't going to slow the connection down very much, is it?
In short, though, Blueyonder is a good package and at the moment it is very cheap for the first three months. I'm a bit annoyed at that actually but I guess that's the way it goes.
Thats why I want to get it!
And because it is too expensive, need to reduce price now!
