All 5th formers/Year 11s will be going for their English Lit GCSE today, and that includes me.

Seeing as this is the first compulsory exam on the timetable, I'd just like to say:

Good luck, try your hardest and you'll do just fine.

But of course. Full marks for wit, anyway.

You may be interested to know that the most famous piece of art is the "gobbed on woman", also know as the "Welsh Listener".

The piece raised a hefty sum (£6.80), but was promptly destroyed, when the Welsh born woman that had bought it, picked up the painting, looked straight at it, and commented that it looked "f***ing fantastic".

Needless to say, Welsh artists tend to avoid water based paints these days.

A. 1) I noticed it's written in Black on Gray, indicating that it was typed (Ariel Western, but that's just my browser setting). Black on Gray indicates a distinct 'Welshness' about the artist, usually this comes about because of a distinct lack of colour schemes available to artists in Wales, who are stuck with Coal Black, Fleece White and RottedLeek Gray as their standard palette. The colour scheme also indicates that FlakyDaffodil Yellow was probably out of stock in the artist's hometown at the time the artwork was created. Black on Gray is also widely used by graffiti artists to put a strong message across, the stark contrast of colours compared to usual graffiti used as a motif to generally propose a message which goes against normal sociological trends. Arthur Tinopaint pointed this out in his book "Radical Welsh Artists of the 20th Century" (Faber and Faber, £1.99, 3 pages) using the example from the renowned "Welsh People DO NOT Suck" artwork emblazoned across the Severn Bridge's underside, where no one could read it except for stiff necked lifeboatmen, in 1992.

A. 2) Clearly the word 'graffiti' is the artist's logo. By rearranging the lettering you get the phrase 'I gri taff' or translated from its Swahili origins 'Is that your spear or mine sticking out of that Welsh git?', originally spoken by Tribesman CanthroforPeanuts in 1879. It's also commonly known that the word graffiti also contains the initials of the artist (GT), who's second cousin 12 times removed on his Mother's brother's sheepdog's side was a rifleman at the battle of Rourke's Drift in 1879.

I had a histology exam today and my god did it suck.

Apparently it was checked by four histology senior lecturers before making it to it's final draft. How then did it:

a) Have about five spelling mistakes in the questions?
b) Have the correct answer on the multiple choice question written in bold type on two of the questions?

or

c) Have a 'multiple choice' question when literally all of the choices could be the correct answer. Talk about a stab in the dark

And to round neatly off, we were given micrographs in black and white and of SUCH low resolution that I had to hold them at arms length just to make out the pixelated images?

Come on Uni, sort it out....

Never made an essay plan in an exam in my life and still picked up an A* for English lit at GCSE and an A at A-Level.

Go on kids, throw caution to the wind :)

I had my English Lit exam today and was quite surprised. I thought it was going to be very hard but I thought it was quite easy. All the questions suited me because I knew some good points on all of them.

Hobson's Choice was the hardest but I knew this would be, because I hate the text. It's one of the worst things I've ever had the misfourtune to read.
