Why I voted monkey_man. By Grix Thraves aged 17.
Notables are what make the forums a special place, right? So why isn't anyone keeping to this rule?
"Blokey is a great writer, he should be a notable."
Lovely, great writer yeah, but what's he done? monkey_man is cool. He makes pictures and makes me laugh. He does one thing that no-one else at all on these forums does that well, and he does it very well.
He doesn't take himself seriously. *shrugs* I'm a real ponce half the time, I take myself and stupid little things far too seriously, but hey, when the rest of us are all shouting over why someone tried to copy a review to win a poxy game, he'll be in the corner, nicking my skydiving monkey and making it die. Git. :0)
But come on... notables have to be serious? Hell no. Behind monkey_man was Mystique for my next choice, and then Mr Happy. Mr Happy is a serious guy, but he's a damn fine person... and that's all it is. Notables are nice people, people you enjoy to be around, people who, if they left, would leave a great big gap in the forums. It's not about being intelligent, it's not about people who don't write in txt spk, yes, Sniper... he's left, I miss him, I miss him a lot. Because we all took ourselves too seriously. I don't have my little way of chosing out notables... I pretend it's people who don't start "vote me!" topics, but I don't care really. Most of the time they're having a laugh. I just chose people I would hate to see leave.
I hope perhaps one day we can all just look back on ourselves, and laugh. Because it really does suck that people can say who deserves to be what, and who doesn't. Great people are plentiful, and they come in all sorts of forms. Don't judge someone by a single equation, look at them on the whole.
