So despite RARE's popularity the loss of them won't be a huge blow (ok yes it will but not as bad as you think). The loss of Left Field was far worse, Camelot make a few Nintendo sports titles... Mario Tennis and Golf spring to mine and despite the sim like play they aren't exactly EA or SEGA esq sport games. Well Nintendo acquired Silicon Knights to fill in the horror gap and Left Field to fill in the sports ones. As a Second Party Left Field's first game as a NBA game for the N64. Their second was a far more successful Excitebike, yet despite the praise it recieved Nintendo didn't like it. Left Field were obviously annoyed by this, Nintendo are very blunt when they don't like things. They didn't like Jet Force Gemini (which is great) and so they said it and they didn't like anything Retro Stuido's were doing and so they said it. Harsh and brutal but these companies can take it and so Left Field went out of their way to prove to Nintendo they can do it (which we all know they can). NBA courtside will be released this Friday along with Smash Brothers and again is an excellent game.
But Nintendo didn't like it and basically told Left Field to take a hike and that they won't be renewing their second party ties. Left Field were down, they were called nothing more than a third party. So Nintendo gamers who liked Left Field felt Nintendo overreacted. Despite underated this company is more important than RARE as it offers titles Nintendo don't make. Well after the brutal ending of their relationship with Nintendo left Field fell quiet, until now. Left Field hooked up with Infogramme and are bringing a new game to Nintendo Gamecube, an American football game with a difference aimed at the younger audience. What a company told they were crap and had to go but still come back with title after title for Nintendo. That's loyalty.
Vote Nintendo Vote Dringo.
Also RARE would make games faster but they won't be better as they are like Nintendo, they take their time and in an evil industry RARE will need to do much better, they havent made a game in well over a year! When they are with Nintendo that is fine, on their own then by now they'd be in debt.
So a contract of exlusivity for a certain time period? Could work. Maybe.
:0)
how about just releasing them all on Ninty console first and then Xbox/PS2 6 months later or so? Surely that would earn them more money, and the Ninty console would remain popular for getting the Rare games first.
PRO's
Rare would make more money/be more popular therefore could make more games/faster and better.
Everyone get's to enjoy the Rare experience
CON's
The Nintendo consoles wouldn't be as popular, Rare exclusivity sells Nintendo's consoles, lots of people bought N64's to play Perfect Dark etc..
In most cases Rare would simply port a game over from console to console and not fully using a certain consoles better aspects.
> True but sport games are far more important as an exclusivity. Maybe
> all these new SEGA sports titles like virtual Striker and Beach
> Spikers will help.
Not forgetting Sega Soccer slam :D
whats EAD?
> I think Rare going multi would be cool.

But how good will they be without EAD and the finacial support offered when games are delayed. Nintendo like RARE to take their time...
They would make more money and surely be able to produce more quality games.
Erm, Rare would be a loss and the only bad thing about loosing them would be that lots of Sony and X Box fans coming in here and braging about it. Rare are great, they make great games they are major players in the video game industry and there exclusivity to Nintendo make their console all the more better. Put it this way I would want to loose them and I think that it would be quite a blow if it happened.
As for Left Field, I thought they were good too but Rare provided more memorable moments as far as gaming goes, oh and Excitebike and NBA Courtside were/are class.
