I am a big drinker of fizzy drinks. I drink many a gaseous liquid be that of the tropical kind (e.g. Lilt, Tropical Tango, Tropical Fanta), the fruity kind (e.g. Tango: Apple, Orange, Lemon, Orange Fanta, Sprite) or the black kind, (e.g. Cokes of many different varieties).

Now some of you may find this very sad indeed, but I can tell the difference between most varieties of Coke. That is ofcourse the black fizzy liquid not the drug.

It's a talent I picked up from my addiction to Coke. Again I mean the fizzy drinks. I used to drink so much years ago, and I refused to drink anything else at the time.

My parents would only by the 'real' coke if it was in an offer or down in price, so it was very rare I'd actually drink Coca Cola, diet Coke or Pepsi, however I quite often has Safeways Select, Sainsbury's Classic Cola, Safeways Economy cola and on occasion Virgin cola.

As I got older, I went off a few of the economy brands because I was just bored of the taste. It wasn't the same as having Coca Cola or Pepsi, so I moaned and moaned to my parents so that they'd get me some more often...which they did.

One day, in my GCSE Business studies course, we had a taste test, where we were told that we'd be tasting three different brands of coke, and we had to see which one tasted the nicest, then we'd be told which brands they were. I went that bit further and as well as saying which one tasted the best, I also went as far as saying what each brand was. I got each one correct, and the only others who did also were those who agreed with what I said.

Anyway, here's my opinions as to which brands of coke are the better and which aren't worth bothering with:

Pepsi. ***** Definately the best. It's got a full taste that, when ice cold is refreshing and satisfying, and tastes better than the 'real thing'.

Diet Pepsi. ***** Despite being full of sacarin replacements for it's lack of sugar content, it suprisingly tastes exactly the same! There's no competition at all between the two, it's a draw.

Coca Cola. **** The original Cola, yet it's not the best. It's a decent brand of cola that's for sure, though it just doesn't quite do it for me. Still, it's very thirst quenching when on a hot summer's day and you've been out for a long bike ride.

Sainsbury's Classic Cola. *** It's satisfactory, certainly not crap, though it doesn't really give pleasure to the taste buds. nothing to dislike about it mind. Drink it fast enough and it tastes like HAribo Cola Bottles. Nice when Fizzy but goes flat quite quick.

Pepsi Max *** 'Maximum Sugar, No Taste' is what they should change their slogan to. It's ok, especially for a no-sugar and supposedly no-sacarin drink. The Americans don't actually have Pepsi Max so why we have it I do not know. It tastes close to Coca Cola, but it's not Pepsi.

Safeway Select Cola. **(+0.5) It's better than lemonade, though lemonade is nice. It's just not quite satisfactory and if served at a kids party, at least one would notice it being a cheap substitute for the better stuff.

Safeway Economy Savers Cola. *(+0.5) In a word: Yuk. One of the newspapers said this was one of the best. They obviously aren't Coke experts. It tastes nothing of Cola and tastes more of a very cheap fruit drink. Though, I suppose you're getting what you paid for for 26p a bottle (may have gone up since I last had some).

Diet Coke. * Definately the worst. The reason it's called 'Diet'? Because they forgot to put the ingredients in it that's why! It's Caramel coloured fizzy water! Even lemonade has more taste to it! I seriously reccomend you get something else instead!

There you go, a nice topic to get you to know me, and Coke a bit better :)
