I know most of you will reply saying "yeah, it will be a success, but only 'cos of the PSX's success and people will buy it and be disappointed blah blah blah..." but what if like the PSX, it's actually a...a... brilliant console?? What if the graphics ARE spectacular, games ARE amazing and it IS the best console that it claims to me. I hope I'm not being biased but I get the feeling that Sony are being unfairly treated, considering that almost all of you have never even played on a PS2. Maybe Sony are having trouble getting enough units, and have made a bit of a muck-up with all this pre-order stuff, but it still MIGHT be a great console.
I get a bit sick of people saying "Why do you want a PS2, it's only popular 'cos Sony are using the popularity of the PSX to get you gullable Sony fans to buy it, you should see what the Gamecube or DC has to offer." But you don't know!! How do you know the PS2 will be rubbish??? It may have had it's problems but what hasn't??? It may cost alot, but you never know, it might be worth it. What if it's the Gamecube that's turned out to be disappointing?? I'm not saying it will be, but it COULD be. The PS2 also COULD be a disappointment.
All I'm saying in what hopefully is a non-biased manner, that try not to diss the PS2 before it'e even come out over here. I've tried not be biased, I'm just putting a point through which I'm annoyed about. Don't slate me for this, civilised replies please.

I sort of agree Dan_uk, they are hoping that the PS2 will sell based on the PSX's success, but I don't think they would leave it at that. Surely they would put lots of effort into making it a worthy sequel of it's daddy the PSX. If they've put as much effort into the PS2 as they did with the PSX, I'M sure the PS2 will be a brilliant console, but they are hoping it will sell well 'cos of the PSX's success, but that's to be expected, mesa thinks.
If the PS2 DOES fail, it will mostly be because we expected too much from Sony, and because of that, Sony will come under pressure, and it will fail. And thats thanks to the Japanese, who if you ask me always expect too much of their consoles. If the PS2 deos fail, then it will be a big blow to the Gaming indistry.
Also, if you say the PS2 is going the same way as the Saturn, then you do have the evidence, as the PS2 deos seem to resemble the Saturn. But the PS2 isn't CALLED the Saturn. There is a hidden meaning in there somewhere.

A DVD player and CD player, added on with a games consoles, we want a games console, with good games, not a household object your embarassing Auntie has. How about saying 'My Auntie has one' and watch your friends laugh at you.
But wouldn't you say the DVD is an added bonus??? Even if it doesn't work brilliantly, it will save you going to the shops and buying one separately. Unless you're so fussy that you want your DVD to be ABSOLUTELY PEEERFECT!!!

I know the PS2 will have good games, and a DVD player, but I buy games consoles, to play games on, not watch movies on. And I don't care how good it will be, spending coming onto 300 quid for a games console is stupid. I f I want a DVD player, I'll go out and buy a DVD player, not a PS2!!!!
The Playstation 2 will have it's fair share of good games, like most other consoles. You have to compare it to series on TV, the pilot of a series is usually not as good as the resulting episodes and in the same way, the first few games from a new console are seen as groundbreaking, but do not show the full capabilities of the console and the extent of the games that will come out for it in the future.
I think Sony have too much sense to 'ride' on the success of the PSX only, they will have some games up their sleaves to impress us. But that doesn't mean I'm buying a PSX2 until next year, actually I may have one for christmas but my parents are not telling me.

The DC's graphics look good, but that doesn't matter. It's the games and they have them, Nintendo has some quality games and doesn't need DC or PS2 like graphics.
Zelda Majora's Mask may make DC and PS2 games look shabby.

Rather than anticipate wait for it, when the moment comes to go to your local store! It's never been this good for us with 4 quality consoles, with games that are breataking, including the sequels and all the newest games.
No one will succeed with silly promises and stuff being bundled with it! The best will come with it's finally released not when it's in development.
