With Episode II coming out in the cinema tomorrow, and me being an absolute Star Wars nut, I have decided it's time to craft my own Stormtrooper armour. Anyone who's ever looked into this will know that it is a lot of hard work, from creating a human mould to vacuumforming the armour pieces to putting a suit together and modifying it etc. Also, this is likely to be fairly costly (a ready made suit will cost you upwards of £800).

However, I've made up my mind, and I will do it.

Is anyone else interested in this sort of thing? My eventual aim is to probably sign up as part of the UK Stormtrooper garrison (www.ukgarrision.co.uk) to be with likeminded souls, and also get tickets to premiers :P and such.

If I get any good at vacuumforming, in a few months I could be good enough to start putting together armour for other people if they want.

Let me know if you'd be interested in this sort of thing.

So dressing up as a stormtrooper to go and see Star Wars... isn't geeky?

It's actually not that geeky. I know for a fact that the uk garrison not only know most of the original Star Wars cast personally through meeting them at events and also many of the new cast members, but they also do a lot of charity work, which is in no way geeky at all. Plus, it actually classes as the entertainment industry AND they are considered by many to be among the most proffesional costume groups in the UK.

It's quite prestigious. Very Star Wars related though, so if you're not a fan, then obviously this won't be for you.

Fair enough, I have actually considered going to see Episode 2 at 00:05 tonight, but I'd have to go by myself, and I'd much rather just see it tomorrow during the day when everyone else is at school... except for the kids on exam leave

Boba Fett armour can be done too. The armour itself is actually easier to do, and the model helmets that can be obtained are easilly good enough quality to prevent you having to make one yourself. But the suit as a whole requires more work, especially when it comes to painting.

I've no doubt that specs on putting together a Jango Fett armour suit will be out soon, which will be more like the Stormtrooper in it's straightforwardness.

if you mean http://www.studiocreations.com/howto/index.html then yes.

Thanks to Craw for correcting my typo. The site is indeed ukgarrison.co.uk and not the callously blasphemy of a mispelling that i put there.

Okaaay.
Thanks but no thanks.

I'll watch the movie with my mates, go eat a pizza afterwards and then go about my life.
Not really interested in dressing up like a Stormtrooper, but each to their own.

There is a website that explains how to do this stuff, have you been there?
