I decided to calculate the volumes of my Gamecube and PS2 respectively. Measuring the Gamecube was a fairly easy affair, as it's a very simple form. Having measured the width, height and depth, I calculated the volume to be 2640000mm cubed (I don't the hotkey for the small 3).
So, onto the PS2. I divided my measurements into two groups, as the PS2 is a slightly more complex shape. In the end, I calculated the volume to be 3641200mm cubed, making it roughly 1.5 times bigger than the Gamecube.
But then it struck me - there's a few things that I'm not taking into consideration here. Firstly, the PS2 has a vast hole in it, dubbed the Expansion Bay. Also, the Gamecube has an external power adapter unit, whereas PS2's is built-in. So, I deducted the volumes of these two objects from the total PS2 volume. The result? A new volume of...
2896625mm cubed
This makes it 256625mm cubed bigger than the Gamecube, according to my calculations. This may sound like a big number, but that's just about a third the size of the Gamecube power adapter, which is to say, not a damn lot!
So there you have it - another pointless post courtesy of Uncle Albert. Yes, the sizes of the consoles may not matter that much and I haven't taken into consideration the 3 expansion ports on the bottom of the GC, but at least I've wasted a little bit of my useless time...and yours! :)
Kewl
Old Gameboy volume versus GBA please.
i think that even though your great and amazing find is great and amazing, it makes no real difference as the PS2 takes up more space in a regular TV storage unit, unless your one has a PS2 shaped hole in it.
once again, well done and great work there, so now, i want to know, what's the volume of the controller of the XBOX and the Gamecube?
