When the world was young and videos were the height of fashion, rentals were a wonderful thing. Not only did you get the movie itself, but you also had those great trailers for other movies to come.
Not only did you get these when renting films, but the trailer phenomenon soon crossed over into sell through video as well and we were blessed with trailers for new retail releases or tantalising films to come.
Trailers are still around today, of course, most often seen in the cinema or on television, but back in the 80's they were a force unto themselves. Often it would involve the same gravel-voiced man telling us 'it was a dangerous time, a time of woe, a time of hardship' before realising that the film was actually a love story set in the 1970's disco era, or some Disney film about a lovely little fox.
Now you rent out or buy a DVD and what do you get? Well, a trailer for the actual movie you are watching if you're lucky. Why (oh why) don't we get those excellent trailers as we once did before? It would serve as a great incentive to get another movie, though often the trailers would be far more exciting than the movie itself anyway, and it would also be great to look back on a film and see the old trailers that would remind you about other films you may have seen.
So come on film guy and girls, we need the return of decent and exciting trailers on our DVD movies, even if the films themselves are poor, at least we can look back with fondness as that gravel-voiced man tells us again that it all happened a long time ago in a far-away land.

Only the two toy story films - you've got to admit the second one was good.
Nowhere near as good as Shrek though.

Disney have the idea - most of there DVD's have trailers and although you cant skip thorugh them (with my DVD player) i like to watch them (although the ones on Toy story are now getting a bit annoying).

I just find them pointless as extras, though thats me. I realise now that some people do find them interesting to watch, so there probably not a total waste of space.

I always watch the trailers, they're great. It's interesting to see how they advertised the film back when it was released, and sometimes they have scenes in which were cut from the film upon release

I only watch trailers once and that’s it. I don't think trailers are a complete waste of time, but I rarely go back to watch them again. That said I do know some people like trailers so in a way there not totally unnecessary to put into DVD extras. Still it would be nice if we got trailers to other films as well, because I and others would find them more interesting.

Sometimes there is an element of Nostalgia. I'm a bit of a James Bond fan and its pretty cools to watch original 60's, 70's, etc trailers and tv adverts.
I think it would be a good idea for the film compnies to give us trailers of their other films on DVD, mianly because I find trailer of the actual film you've bought are a bit pointless.
I mean you have the film in you're possesion so why would you want to bother watching the trailer when you can watch the film? Putting other film trailers in instead would intrest people more in an upcoming movie and therefor possibly increase ticket profits when its released.

A couple of my DVDs had an advert for Pearl Harbour on. Pity by the time I got these DVDs, I already had Pearl Harbour anyway, nevermind seeing it at the cinema
