and no, this man doesn't work for sony or microsoft, which of course is obvious if you know these companies and their inconsistency at all. he doesn't work for RARE either, though there are people at rare who can perform similar feats of consistency at a slightly lower standard.
if you have any knowledge below the bare surface of the gaming world, you'll already know well who i'm on about, and you'll know i love nintendo, but, most importantly, you'll know this isn't a nintendo fan ranting, but a nintendo fan stating facts.
hmm, lemme see, its hard to think of any classics created by this man. oh, wait, there is a few actually. erm, some game called Donkey Kong was a creation of his. i was young at the time it came out but from what i hear, it was a right ole lark. well, he also created a certain games character called Mario, and such games starring mario as the aforementioned Donkey Kong, as well as mild succeses like Super Mario Brothers 1,2 and 3, Super Mario world, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Kart and the forthcoming Super Mario Sunshine. On top of this, there are many spin-offs of this plump lil italian plumber's adventures, not made by this man but almost all still great lil games in themselves, good achievements by the mere mortals he left to create them. It is probably fair to say that at least 3 of these games have been named as the "best game ever" at one point or another. Therefore, you can see that this man has a knack for groundbreaking.
Of course, there were a few other titles created by this man. Some of you may have heard of another lil franchise called Starfox. A groundbreaking graphical achievement on the SNES, but still with the care taken to make a great game. the n64 sequel, Lylat Wars was a classic aswell, showing the possibilities presented by the n64 rumble pack. Now, theres 2 new starfox games on the way, made by rare and namco. these will be hotly anticipated, but maybe not as much so now that this giant of games isn't behind them.
Now, to just briefly mention another creation of this man. A certain epic series known as "the Legend of Zelda". in my humble opinion, this man's finest creation, i think we all know just how good zelda is. to this day, i believe the n64's Ocarina of Time is the best game ever. The main character in Zelda is one Link. Though similar in appearence to Peter Pan, i still must credit the creater of Link greatly. The whole story of the Zelda series silply MUST be the most interesting, engulfing story in any game ever. You have everything in there; Sword fighting, Bow and arrow shooting, time travelling, the list goes on and on. Of course, theres the matter of the master sword, which one must obtain in each Zelda game in order to have any hope at all. There have been quite a few Zelda games, 2 on the NES, "The legend of Zelda" and "The Adventures of LInk". This was followed by "Links Awakening" on the game boy, an amazing feat on the lil handheld, and still one of the best games you'll get on it today. Then, the game which took me 6 months to complete, though admittedly i was 8, "The legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past". This is the 2nd best incarnation i feel, only eclipsed by "Ocarina of Time". "Majora's Mask" has since been released. it wasn't made by this man, and thus wasn't as good as my top 2, but since it used his game engine, it still was a fantastic game.
Now there's controversy over the new look of Zelda which this man has created. this is very unjustified. Of course i would love an ultra realistic graphic version, but the man in question feels that isn't the "Zelda" way. i think he knows whats best for Zelda better than us, and i bet when we play it, we'll realise hes been right all along. Anyway, anyone who doesn't die with anticipation of guiding Link through a new adventure, finding epona, solving puzzles, shooting bows and slingshots, being fully in control of what attacks you are trying to pull off, finding the master sword and pulling it from the stone, and finally, killing off your foe, Gannondorf or his alterego Gannon at the end, must be insane.
Now its time to reveal the identity of this master of games development, whcih should be a mere formality to about 99% of you.
No, not Yu Susuki, not Bill Gates, but SHIGERU MIYAMOTO. If there was such thing as a noble prize in computer games, this man would get it, he's that much of a God. He works solely for nintendo, and this is why i, and many others, will always buy nintendo consoles over the rest if made choose. We can trust, rely on, or even put money on this man to give us the best games on any console, most likely the best game ever every time a new one of his comes out.
Now everybody, nintendo fan or not, bow to the man, Miyamoto, the creater of at least half thats good about the thing we love, computer games.
Get a life.
