Membership for the year = £7.50
Average GAD win = £35
It would appear that SR basically go 5x the membership price 3 times a day, 5 days a week and so on.
Starting to see the difference in prices Goaty?
Yep, sure am.
I've seen some people whinging and moaning about how it's "not fair".
Excuse me?
You write a post, it wins you a game.
You claim that game, for free.
Yet some people are complaining about having to spend £7.50 per year in order to qualify for this?
Yes Goat, they are.
Are they ungrateful?
Why I would say so yes.
Is it unreasonable to ask that people join SR in exchange for the chance to win a gree game each and every day?
No Goat, it's not.
I've won..er..enough times now.
That equals about 3 lifetime's worth of membership fees.
That's right Goaty my old son.
*shakes head*
If I weren't so gosh darned nice, I'd say something about ungrateful grabby-handed pikeys wanting free games without thinking "Hey, maybe I could join SR and ensure they can keep giving me free stuff?"
But I am, so I won't.
Now I'm off to listen to Soil.
Gamecubve contollers or a reddie famine!

Reddies?
Regarding the bit about non members winning, nobody has mentioned that as well as winning a years membership they will also be able to choose from the list of free gifts, I know they are not all highly desirable but there is some reasonable stuff amongst them.
Anyway - only let members win I say - I might have more of a chance then !! ;D

Yeah, I'd agree with that. I'd like to see a proper ordering system with 'accounts' where they hold your address details, with the option of keeping your credit card details.
I'd like to see some kind of 'loyalty' scheme too. Yes, I know their prices are extremely good - but let's be honest, they're not the *best* you can find on the net.
Something where you get a number of points credited to your account for, say, every £10 you spend. Then, when you get a certain number of points, you can use them as full or part payment towards any item they sell. Just a thought.
You yourself often mention Play; I admit I've also ordered a few things from them, and I do like their system. It's only really their delivery times that let them down. A loyalty scheme would help prevent people 'straying' I reckon.
Anyway, the whole GAD thing is to increase the stickiness of the SR site, so that us muppets with nothing better to do spend all our time here and whenever we want gamage, we buy from here.
Works for me.

Yeah but... surely the idea of getting people here is to make money. However, people cannot buy unless they are members and will likely never join if they get it all for free. By giving away free membership, people get a magazine sent to their door 12/13? times a year and are therefore more likely to buy stuff.
Its a good idea.
Eg...
the ability to view ALL current orders ONLINE on one page.
the ability to cancel orders ONLINE
the ability to order items without having to enter all your flippin details everytime.
Just saying that if they really hate one of us they might try and bodge up one of our orders...make it come a day late or somthin...
maybe...
If someone sees an advert to win a game a day, free of charge, the first thing that goes through their heads will be 'What is the catch?'. So they'll turn up to this website, see that you have to either pay to join the club, or effectively win twice in order to actually get a free game. They'll then think 'It's all a con', and probably not bother staying around. That might well be short-sighted and ungrateful, but that's the way many people are.
Maybe I'm wrong with that point of view, or maybe not.
On the other hand of coure, there'll be a bit more money coming in from the forum users here who wouldn't otherwise be members. And of course, the money saved on giving someone a membership instea of a game.
It's all swings and roundabouts...
