Everyday we come across some form of video game, and nine times out of ten we investigate the source. You could be walking down the high street minding your own business and suddenly as if the gates of hell had opened up you look to your left and see one of the zombies from resident evil staring into your defenceless soul. There are other little creatures lurking around ready to pounce into our minds which then means £££ The little cartoon character that goes by the name of Mario is just as deceiving and cunning as one of the hideous looking creatures in Halo.

Think how much you spend/spent on games. I am only 14 and already I think I have spent around £500 on games/consoles/magazines. Don't get me wrong I love games and am very happy to spend my money on feeding my hobby. The thing is I just get a glimpse of a beautiful piece of gameplay somewhere and am already saying in my head '£40.. that isn't that much ... go on treat yourself.' That phrase is entering my head nearly every time I see a game.

Games are progressing extremely well and it is hard to keep up with the latest news on what's about to hit the shop shelves. The more games there are the more your are going to want to buy so you have to decide which ones you really really want. Well, you have a say in this and someone else does to. No not your grandma or your dad not even your mum!

*The scene*-Your sitting down in your humble abode innocently staring at the television when the adverts start to commence. 'ahhhh not another load, it was only 10 minutes ago when they had a break' you say to yourself.
You angrily sit their staring at your t.v screen anticipating when the adverts will finish when you mind is suddenly taken over by someone or something else.
The advert on the t.v starts playing happy jovial music and you sit their and feel a bit calmer. Someone pops out from the left hand side of the screen, your eyes slowly focus, you soon see who it is . ... its Mario.
More and more intrigued you get closer to the t.v and concentrate as if you were about to take an exam. The advert progresses and fills your brain with even more information about where to buy the game and how much it costs. You eyes are there not being deceiving but just looking.. just looking at the superb graphics of the game.
Your program that you were watching finally returns to the tv and all you can think of is doing more research on the game which is still freshly beautiful in your mind.

This is what they do they put on adverts which take mess with us and very cannot help but to give in. Do you get all excited when you see a great game on the t.v?

Thanks for reading :)

Good post!

I think I spent about £1700 on my PSx including controllers, memory cards and games.

So far, rough estimate on my PS2 it's about £1100, it could be much worse but for the fact that I've had to put buying games on hold for the moment.

Yep I get excited when I see a game advert on TV, the PS2 adverts have been really good but I don't think there's been enough made, they're very few and far between, if you actually manage to catch one you soon want to see it again.....well I do anyway, it just seems that they show it maybe 5 - 10 times a month and then stop the adverts which I feel is a shame.

Still if the advert draws you in and makes you go out and buy the game then they've done their job, regardless of what console it's for.

In my puny little life so far I reckon £500 is really not that much.

I've already spent about £750 quid on my PS2, and i've only had it six months,

I have spent about £300 on a GBA in that same time period

In my gaming archive (taking prices as if they were new)

n64+games+accessories = about £1600
snes+games+accesories = about £700
gameboy+games+accesories = about £600

If your quite young expect to spend a hell of a lot more in the coming years, my totaly is approaching £4000 spent over a 7 year period!!!!! (thats about £500 a year).

However I guarantee you you will be spending more on alcohol by that point!

Kerrang you've only spent £500 on games/consoles and things i'd of thought it would of been more as a PS2 with a couple of controllers and a couple of games is around £300 does that mean PS2 was your first games Console or what.
