A series of complaints from teachers across the country about the Gamcube release date has prompted the government to launch an official complaint to Nintendo.

Scretary of state for education and skills, Estelle Morris, had this to say:

"The timing of the release of the Nintendo Gamecube is disgraceful. They [Nintendo] are well aware that students all across the country will be taking important examinations over the next month or so. To release a games console now is highly irresponsible. There is clearly going to be a significant detrememtal effect on examination results this year, as so many will be glued to the screen of their new games machine, instead of revising for their exams."

When questioned, David Gocen, managing director of Nintendo Europe, said the following:

"Yes, we were well aware that we are into exam season, but as far as we are aware, primary school children do not have important exams, and are unlikely to revise in any case. We do not see therefore, how the GameCube is going to have much of an effect on the UK."

When asked about the possibility of those taking GCSE's and A-levels being distracted by the gamecube, Mr Gocen looked confused, and said "Aren't they too old for a Gamecube?", before sniggering as he walked off.

Well, judging from the tounge-in-cheek nature of it, the way the guy at the end just walked off and the words "From Channel VB" at the end, I'd hazard a guess on he's taking the p**s.

I agree with Vottanator, I can't believe this got a serious reply. :D

Then again, it does happen. I wrote something about how Shiggsy bought Sony by scaring all the employees with his bright colours, and some idiot believed it.

I think I've spelt Shiggsy wrong. Ah well.

I can't believe this got any serious replies!! I'm not saying the post is bad, it's quite good. But it is blatently from the creative mind of Mr. Venombyte.

Who the hell sniggers while walking away at a press release!?

Are you serious?

This seems to go against everything that Nintendo have claimed about the GameCube. Either you're making this up, someone else made it up, or Nintendo are about to get very angry with this particular person for discouraging a major part of their buyers.

For Primary School children? Why? Which GC games could a 9-year-old play properly and complete easily? Universal Studios? Maybe. Most of the others? Almost certainly not.

Perhaps Pikachu and the general cartoon style of many nintendo games makes them seem like Children's games, but just look at the line up of launch titles for GC. Children's games? Hardly.

I'm 15 and I am saving up for a Gamecube now. Not because I'm a baby, but because it's cheaper than the other current consoles, and has more games that I would like to buy. Luigi's mansion, Wave Race, Pikmin, Sonic, Mario Sunshine, Star Wars, Zelda Games and a Final Fantasy game. Again, hardly all for children.

I'm sure that most people on the forum would agree with me - and it would be nice to hear where you got your information from,

See Ya ;-)

Yea well, who revises anyway! lol!
But i don't think there is any need for complaint, I don't think the government and teachers are that bothered anyway, they get paid whether people pas GCSE's or not.
