Not sure if any of you have heard, but the BNP has gained three seats in the local elections.

And some far right bloke in the Netherlands is apparently getting a lot of support.

This seems to be a bit of a wake up call perhaps?

Discuss.

(Those of you that actually care, anyway...)

how long for though?

One reason i heard, for why people specifically target the uk, is the relatively high proportion of their tourists and other international visitors being british, and typically (being able to afford to visit at all, but also the manner in which they stay) very wealthy.
Since this is the best representation they have of british life, many will assume it to be the standard way of things in this country.

Sounds a little dumb? Maybe, but ask yourself how much you really know about east european and asian culture and lifestyle, i bet you're pretty far off the mark too. I know i was.

We're one of the only European countries without an electorally successful neo-nazi party - might have something to do with it.

Or the majority of them speak two languages... one being their native and the other a good chance being English so an easier life.

Yes, because the BNP caused World War 2. They're not extreme right, just nationalist. You're going over the top.

I don't want any Old Labour MPs in power because of what Stalin did.

One of the blokes from the BNp who won the seats was interviewed, and they didn't show the whole lot, but just this bit:

People are fed up of seeing their relatives who have worked and paid taxes their whole lives not having operations because asylum seekres are using all of our countries resources.

(It wasn't exactly that, but pretty close).

And I have to admit, I agree with that ONE SENTENCE (before anyone jumps on my for being a racist).

Who do asylum seekers come all the way over here? Surely if they are that scared for their life, they would stop at the first safe place. But they don't. They travel across most of Europe, because they know that they'll be treated like royalty as soon as they turn up.

Blame the government. The majority is slowly becoming resentful towards the usual three, because they give the minorities more rights than the majorities. We're treated like bigots.

I personally have nothing against them - homosexuals, different ethnic origins, fat people, women, whoever. All fine by me. Yet I detest having political correctness forced down my throat every day. It is frustrating.

People are voting for the BNP because when they look at politics, they see an incompetent government blundering helplessly, trying to please everyone but failing to please anyone. Too many broken promises, and no faith left.

That's the 'problem' with democracy. If we prevent people exercising their democratic right to choice of political affiliation, even if that choice is towards a body that seeks to deny others their democratic rights, we're just as bad as them in a way.
We'd be just like them, standing by our own political views in a manner that envolves us oppressing anyone who doesn't agree with us. That's essentially part of what they'd like to do if they had the power.

All we can really do is try to help peacefully bring people round to our way of thinking, and prevent people falling into 'wrong' political affiliations by educating them properly.

I've tried to reason with someone with those kinds of far right beliefs though, it's not an easy thing to do, and i didn't pursuade him very far. He was Plaid Cymru rather than BNP, but that's not exactly a fair representation of the party as a whole. Maybe it is a good representation of extreme welsh nationalism though...

Bollix. Nothing wrong with it. If people want the Far Right in power, then the Far Right will get into power. Democratic process at work. And, to be honest, who cares if the BNP have 3 seats? They can do sod all.
