I think I read somewhere that FF XI will be a MMORPG, or Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. Square have announced that it will appear on X-Box and PS2.
Now heres my thought for the day. EVVVVEEEERYYYYONNNNEE knows about Squares and Nintendos cat fight a few years back, and they both haven't talked to eachother in a few years. BUT. Considering that Square want to make as much money as possible from subscribers to the game, Square would be fools not to market it on Gamecube as well.
So what does this mean altogether?
Firstly, we have the first multi CONSOLE game, mulitplayer on X-BOX and PS2. Possibly Gamecube later.
Secondly, there is a good chance that other developers will follow their lead, I.E. Infograms, the makers of Unreal, especially.
Why Infograms? They have just joined forces with a group in Japan, therefore increasing their market with console games. They have announced to work on all consoles, so another multi console game (Unreal 2, perhaps?) will be probable.
Thirdly, Nintendo and Square could kiss and make up, bringing RPGs back to the system.
Really, this is all about the future of multiplayer games, I.E. Rpgs on different consoles, first person shooters on a X-Box agaisnt people with a Gamecube.
Ahhh, the future is cooking well, and smells just right. Don't let it boil for too long though, as we'll have a big mess on our hands.
(What the hell does that mean?)
Uh, Square and Nintendo, OI!, get it sorted!
(God you are odd...)
I have been here a lot longer than you have. A LOT longer. You did not attack Nintendo, you attacked me.
"do YOU think" and "No I didn't think so!"
I come on here to discuss, not argue. I put points up, that I think would interest peopl, and provide them with information that they didn't already know.
DO NOT ARGUE. DO NOT REPLY UNLESS YOU HAVE SOMETHING SOLID TO CONTRIBUTE TO THIS DISCUSSION.
Nintendo are a company.
Square make games.
Nintendo make games and consoles.
Nintendo create characters.
Square make characters.
No difference.
However. Nintendo benefit more by keeping characters.
Square benefit more by SELLING characters.
Please think next time before writing. I am not in the mood.
Right.
**UPDATE** **UPDATE**
Capcom have now announced that a Resident Evil game will appear on ALL consoles, and the PC, and will be a multiplayer, across internet game.
See, one goes, and the rest follow.
Even though there were rumours of this for about six months...
