I was thing about MGS2 well a topic got me thinking it got me thinking about what is missing from the game and what is missing from alot of games.

The length the playing time and the possibilities of a game. Mostly Length, the length of game i think will vary on the arena that you can play in, MGS2 is based on a ship when a game is based on a ship theres always going to be a limit of the area that you can explore and how repetative it's going to be.

I think that MGS2 lacks in this it really brings the game down, in a game there needs to be changes in the scenery, you can tell that a game is really good and makes you want to play it more when say your at school and your thinking about what your going to next on the game and your playing everything because you can't play on it so you just think about it, when you can't wait to get home, when the game makes you rush home so you can play it as soon as possible. Alot of games lack this now.

A game that can do this which i have just recently started playing is Final Fantasy 7 now this game has the arena, It has possibilities galor but it has the thing that i think is needed in most games which i like to call the "drag factor" it drags you back for more and more, MGS2 will do this for a while but for how long? and how long will the game last? ok Final Fantasy 7 doesn't have the graphics all the time but i think it more than makes up for it in game play it makes up a whole lot.

MGS2 is just missing this, it's got the graphics and a story line but is this what the gamer wants personally i would much rather have gameplay and with the technology these days you can have the graphics in there very easily and even a good story line with out over doing it, I think that game creators now have to realise that all these factors can live in the same relm.

If you look at the cut scenes in MGS2 it just gets ridiculous at how long they take, it's nice to look at for the first time but after while it does get annoying.

going back to what i was saying, In this kind of game the arena that you can play in is just so critical it gives the game a long play time or short play time it can give the game endless depth or short non-lived depth.

The game makers these days need to get in touch with the public, with who there selling the game to. Because some of them are getting out of touch.

I think my over all view is put across even though i did go off please post your thoughts

Good post Longy.
yeh i agree that MGS2 is too short, some people can play the game through 6 or 7 times but i think it is the most amazing game until you complete it, then boredom kicks in.
Bring on FFX!

once again good post.

Good topic there Longy.

I do agree, its my complaint that I have had about most games in the past few years and its what made the Retro era of the SNES so amazing. Companies didn't know much about 3D etc... they worked on everything bar graphics.. and those games still are in my top 5 of all time.
