The following is my thought's about MGS2's secret items

-----------------

Well, after 3 days of playing the tanker level through the first three difficulties, I have finally gotten the secret items, Stealth and bandanna.

I wasn't ready to part with a month of my life to do the Plant level

Firstly, mythought's on the Bandanna

It's a very exciting moment when you unlock your first "special item" I was feeling quite smug with my new item, but after 5 minute's I thought "Oh crap, this is utter plop"

Although the unlimited ammo was very useful, it's just not a big enough reward for all the hard work. Plus it's plop

Today has been dedicated to try and get the stealth camo.

To my utter horror I completed the last difficulty 2 tags short of the elusive 78 mark, I punched myself in the face many times until *shock, horror* the screen, "new item obtained" came up with the joyous picture labelled "stealth"

BROWN UNDERWEAR ALERT!!!

So I think to myself, (acting rather smug) "let's go onto European extreme mode"

So I skip the Video sequences (as usual) which strangely seemed to take a longer time to skip.

Then there I was, going through my inventory and.... BadaBing, Badaboom

Solid Snake was standing there in his glorified Translucent green.

1st test: Confrontation
I walked up to an unknowing guard and shot him, he fell unconcious.

Conclusion: Failure. Must keep them concious so I can laugh at them

2nd Test: Confrontation
This time I walked up to a guard and smacked him in the face (very funny), he then called for back up, punch more guards in face. Get's repetitive

Conclusion: Success, funny to start off with, then it get's boring, which results in me continuing hitting myself in the head

"2 days wasted"

Overall: Don't spend day's looking for those elusive dogtags, 72 hours of gameplay hardly makes up for something that loses it's charm after 5 minutes

Just a word of warning for those of you who eat sleep and drink MGS2,

IT'S NOT WORTH IT.

Now you can all laugh at how stoopid I was.

Well it's an appropriate extra for a MGS game, but it's just not as rewarding as I thought it was.

A big let down in my opinion, sure you can confuse them, but what after that? Just repeat the same stuff all over again but your invisable.

Oh, you can only use one item at a time, so you can't use stealth and Bandanna, another thing that would of been a nice addition.

This game has been over-rated, simple as that.

It should get an 8/10 maybe a 9/10 if the reviewer is feeling generous.

The only problem with saying things like that is that one persons bound to say "But this game has da best graphics, and you get a gun, and you shoot people." and a majority of people will just folow like sheep believing the hype

I think that the makers felt as if they had to add these extra's.

I think some developers just put them in for the hell of it, quite a few of them have adopted a *just put em in and they will be happy idea* and so there usually a load of crap and not at all that rewarding.

I can understand your disappointment about bonus items, I think that developers should put a bit more effort into the extras. Otherwise, what would be the point of striving to unlock them?

Have to disagree with you there...IT IS WORTH IT. You can get both bandana and stealth in under 2 hours so how does that qualify as a waste of time. You can do so much with the stealth suit...punvh teh guards, knock on doors, shoot things to get their attention. Its great, and we are only talking about the first few areas.

I think that everyone needs to get them items because they add to the experience. They make you feel that you earned them and deserve to have them. SO theer you go

Great post badger, funny aswell :D
But i agree with longy things like unlimited ammo are usefull. Stealth can get a bit boring though.

Ive not got MGS2 but i would think it would be very useful but it's probably there so you have goals to meet something to aim for after you've completed the game.

Why is the bandana not good? you get unlimited ammo? i can see how it wouldn't be that excitening now unlocking something that can make you jump 30 feet in the air or climb walls that would be fun.

In my view stealth is better that bandana because you can't be seen in stealth i think doing the game in stealth for the first time would be good but then it would get boring.

I think the thing missing in MGS2 is the gaming time, the time that it lets you play for how long it keeps you interested and i don't mean slightly interested i mean like when your at school it's the thing that your thinking about the whole way throug the thing that makes you rush home.

I think ill stop there i feel a new topic coming on and don't wont to write everything here.

Good topic Badgerman it's a good one for making people take about there views and go onto different topics

Not a bad post actually, and i have to agree with you Badgerman. MGS2 was a very short lasting game. I was told to try and complete it on the both extreme and european extreme modes. But when i completed the extreme mode and got to the Metal Gear Rays on europen extreme, i realised that there was no point in trying. On every difficulty, the storyline was the same. I think that the game would have been even greater if there were multiple endings. Now i can't complain that there wasn't good enough graphics, because they are the best to be seen for now. Looking towards the future, i hope that the game will be improved immensely. Also, i don't think i am alone on this one, that MGS3 (there will hopefully be a different name) will be released on the PS2 aswell as any new consoles i.e. the PS3.

lol, at one time i would feel sorry for you badger, but today i dont. Why? I dunno, maybe its the fact that i didnt bother with getting all the tags as i had been and done the stealth thing on MGS1, so there wasnt going to be much new with this one was there.

I was beginning to get in the mood to get the tags for these new items, but having read this i have declined that thought.

Cheers Badger. :D
