The following is my thought's about MGS2's secret items

-----------------

Well, after 3 days of playing the tanker level through the first three difficulties, I have finally gotten the secret items, Stealth and bandanna.

I wasn't ready to part with a month of my life to do the Plant level

Firstly, mythought's on the Bandanna

It's a very exciting moment when you unlock your first "special item" I was feeling quite smug with my new item, but after 5 minute's I thought "Oh crap, this is utter plop"

Although the unlimited ammo was very useful, it's just not a big enough reward for all the hard work. Plus it's plop

Today has been dedicated to try and get the stealth camo.

To my utter horror I completed the last difficulty 2 tags short of the elusive 78 mark, I punched myself in the face many times until *shock, horror* the screen, "new item obtained" came up with the joyous picture labelled "stealth"

BROWN UNDERWEAR ALERT!!!

So I think to myself, (acting rather smug) "let's go onto European extreme mode"

So I skip the Video sequences (as usual) which strangely seemed to take a longer time to skip.

Then there I was, going through my inventory and.... BadaBing, Badaboom

Solid Snake was standing there in his glorified Translucent green.

1st test: Confrontation
I walked up to an unknowing guard and shot him, he fell unconcious.

Conclusion: Failure. Must keep them concious so I can laugh at them

2nd Test: Confrontation
This time I walked up to a guard and smacked him in the face (very funny), he then called for back up, punch more guards in face. Get's repetitive

Conclusion: Success, funny to start off with, then it get's boring, which results in me continuing hitting myself in the head

"2 days wasted"

Overall: Don't spend day's looking for those elusive dogtags, 72 hours of gameplay hardly makes up for something that loses it's charm after 5 minutes

Just a word of warning for those of you who eat sleep and drink MGS2,

IT'S NOT WORTH IT.

Now you can all laugh at how stoopid I was.

After being held at banana-point by Bad German, I retract the statement about the URL thingy...or not ;D

Interesting topic, and I'm glad that you gave me the URL for it (;D). I never really go for collecting things in games - I just use the cheats instead ;D Unless I've completed the game and got what I consider a decent replay value from just the game, I don't go after muniscule extras that mean nothing. However, I would consider secret characters in fighters meaningful ;D

In short - MGS2 seems overestimated to me anyway ;D

I found that very funny I complete games to watch the story unfold not to get secrets ie chainsaw in SH2 more a hindrent than help

I was really trying hard to get ALL 361 dog tags, but I have stopped around the 200 mark. Put simply, there was no incentive for me to do it. Its not like Mario 64 where you don't mind collecting all 120 stars, because they're all different. in this its just the same thing over and over again.

One thing I found is that the "rewards" are something that don`t really have to be all that great. As it is, they are extremely nice to get, but simply going after all the dog tags was a nice enough challenge to make it enjoyable by itself.
