Dear Shiguru Miyamoto

I am writing to you with the deepest concern about my position here at Nintendo, although I am older I am just as capable to do the same job as I did 10 years ago. Quite frankly I’m angry, in the last generation of gaming I starred in two games of my own with only one of them being made by your good self. I am fed up with the amount of supporting roles that I am playing in games, admittedly there are many games with me starring in it for the Gamecube, Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, Mario Kart, Mario Party 4, Mario Sunshine and Super Smash Brothers Melee but only one of those actually has me in the main role, the remainders have me as a supporting character along with Bowser, Wario and in particular Luigi.

Now I know that my younger brother has been jealous of my fame so offering him a wider role in the future of gaming is all well and good, but I’m worried that he is now Nintendo’s main star. Whilst your fellow colleagues insist that I’m number one in your mind there is evidently something going on, in particular with the launch of the Gamecube. You can’t fob me off with “your still there” anymore, I’M STUCK IN A SODDING PAINTING!!!! I do not care weather your team was fed up with me and would prefer Luigi because lets face it, if it was me running around with a hover then the game would sell much more. As it is I have my stupid, taller, green younger brother try and rescue me!!!! ME! Do you honestly think the great Mario is going to get caught by a bunch of pesky ghosts, pathetic a Nintendo launch is not a Nintendo launch without me in it. And it also worries me deeply with the GBA versions of my adventures, why is it Mario Brothers and Super Mario Brothers 2 were the games chosen for the launch of the console? Hang on I know ITS BECAUSE LUIGI IS IN IT! In Super Mario Brothers 2 the part Luigi plays is as large as mine, but hey that’s ok the sequel has me as the main character with Luigi supporting me, well how wrong was I! What do you go and do, you take Luigi from the multiplayer mode and stick him in MY single player along with me!!!! Why does a stupid tall green freak that kicks his legs in the air for a bit longer deserve the same position as me??

So then a move on to my next game, the next generation of platform games, Super Mario Sunshine. Now it worries me about what you’ve been saying to those nice reporters, “There are two types of games, one that you play from start to finish like Luigi’s Mansion, and ones that you play again and again, I think Mario Sunshine will be like that in this case”. You what!!!! Are you saying I’m going to be in a short game, you also said my game is being developed by a “relatively small development team whilst Zelda is being made by a much larger one”. Am I not as important as Link? A stupid elf that like my cocky younger brother is also green? Are you forgetting I represent the colour of your logo, my game does look good but if it is short then I am worried? And then there is the storyline, oh yes the fabled storyline. Look Shigsy I do believe at last you have gone mad by basing your games around SEGA’s Jet Set Radio, we have my cousin link wondering around in a cell shaded world a.k.a Jet Set Radio and you have me cleaning up graffiti as opposed to creating it like in Jet Set Radio (keeping with your family image no doubt). I am really worrying about your health especially when I hear how you’re keeping in touch with the Sonic team.

Do you not remember Sonic; he’s that guy, who tried to run us into the ground, and after failing he comes to us in floods of tears, and what do you do? You give him a launch game, not even I your own sodding mascot got a launch game, I would of told that stupid blue hedgehog where to go (I’m sure he’s on drugs just look at those eyes). What are you doing Shigsy? First Luigi prances about like he owns the joint and then we have Sonic trying to make up with me by possibly starring in Mario Kart! You should of stuck him in Smash Brothers and after I finish with him then we’d have no psychotic hedgehog to worry about. Do you not remember who I am Shigsy, I’m that guy who jumped over barrels for you getting you to the dizzying heights of stardom you are currently enjoying, I’m the guy everyone associates you with, I, I, I love you man and now I think you’ve gone mad, just look at Pikmin and I did spot that Oriami the name of the spaceman is a simple anagram of “I Mario”. I need a response or this plumber may just go elsewhere, my demands are simple, slap Luigi and kill Sonic, simple.

Yours sincerely

Mario Mario

You can assure Mario that on Smash Brothers, I kick Luigi's butt just as much as his own.

Hmm so how old is baby mario? In one game he can barley walk and in another he can play Tennis? Oh now I'm all confused.

Indeed you are correct. They are brothers but not by blood. Also the children that the stork carried could have been up to the age of about two years old...

Thats my view on it.

What a great SNES game that was. One of my favourite.
