With the Xbox now available at the same price as the Playstation2, and the Gabecube being significantly cheaper, some say it's time for Sony to act. Others sit blinkered and swear blind that nothing need change, convinced that Sony are untouchable in the gaming market.

I have been unable to contact my sources within Sony this week, possibly because the last time they leaked me information they had their nipples burned as punishment, so I've had to dig around for much of this information myself*.

Firstly, it seems Sony are fully aware of the threat of their competitors in the console war, as a sales projection document I found shredded in their bins indicates. After taping it back together I was able to see that Sony predict a huge drop in console sales from the start of May, with sporadic bursts of sales, either to coincide with big game releases, or I just taped the chart back together in the wrong order.

I also discovered a memo, which possibly gives a clearer indication of Sony's fears:

To: All

It seems that the hype surrounding Metal Gear Solid 2 has died down, and people are beginning to realise that our system has very few top class games to come out that won't also be released on another platform. If the consumers grasp hold of this concept, they may see that it is time to move on. Come up with some lies for E3 to keep people interested for a bit longer. Tell them that the PS2's online network will be ready soon, and will be free, or something. Just don't mention that the link with AOL will block the PS2's ability to show adult content.

Further snooping lead me to my most shocking discovery yet. Sony plan to rerelease the PS2 in a couple of different models, hoping to confuse the customer into thinking it's a new product. There are two new models, the PS2+, which is 3 imes the size of the original PS2, and shaped like a huge brain, with a massive blue eye in the centre, that works like a magic eight ball, just give the console a shake, and it'll tell you what game to play, either MGS2, GT3 or GTA3. There were lans to include more games on the magic eye, but there aren't thought to be anymore PS2 games that people want to play.

The second new model is just a quarter of the size of the original PS2, and is called the PS2 light. It comes in girly pibk, or baby blue, and has two handles.

Whether these moves will keep Sony on top of the market remains to be seen, but given the power of Sony's evil marketing machine, it seems likely.

I disagree. I think Sony could raise the price, and still lead the race.

All they'd have to do would be to gettheir evil marketing men back onto the streets, and force people to buy the console, just like they did with the original Playstation.

Apparently Sony broke into a Coca-Cola factory, and slipped high quantities of a mind control drug into the batch of Coca-Cola. When drunk, this turne dordinary people into mindless Sony slaves, who were left without a choice other than to buy the Playstation, no matter how much they wanted an N64.

Sony paid off Coca Cola, by making sure that George Michael didn't release a record for a few years.

Now it looks like Sony's evil marketing men could be back, with plans to hide computer chips in McDonalds and Burger King meals that will implant in the eaters head, and convince them that Nintendo is for babies, and Xbox is for geeks.

Because of this, I believe that Sony could charge £1243 for the console, and still sell by the bucketload, but they don't want to make thye much profit, because it would bring attention to their illegal tax haven in Burkino Faso, and their slave-run factories in Madagascar where they create their evil marketing robots.
