So can any game really be 'Perfect??
Well let?s get a definition of ?Perfection?
??Perfection is absolute. Something that is perfect could never be faulted by anyone for any reason??

There are two different aspects of ?possible perfection? we can look at ?Fact? & ?Fiction?
Fiction - Why is it that people say ?I love this game, It is Perfect?
Do they say this because it really is Perfect or is there an element or bias in their ?theoretical fact??
Here?s a theory, which I thought, maybe the reason?
Majority of traditional Gaming (of any sort) is an intensely personal matter. It's not like a movie or a book where you're a ?passive observer?. Yes you have the cut scenes and yes some games have a great story line, however When you game you're actually controlling the action, ?you are the Game?.
If it's a very well done game, you actually feel emotions. You get Angry when your character dies, you jump out of your seat and your heart beats faster during tense scenes. Can anyone who games actually tell me they've never had a dream about a game?
I believe this is why people have such strong opinions after playing the game and statements such as ?Perfect?, ?best game I?ve played?, ?there?s nothing better? (Some examples are Halo, MGS 2, GTA 3 ? But are they really that perfect?)
Fact -
We have had many good, descriptive and interesting topics in this forum, which compare the stages of reality to gaming and such as life ? games also have their flaws.
Games like Pro Evolution Soccer and Metal Gear Solid 2 are no doubt two of the most realistic projects created by Konami and both really accelerate ?real life? movement, features, almost ?film like? motion, emphasis on small detail and characters.
Games like this have been argued by many of us today : 'As close as you get to reality?
Statements from various websites have dubbed them (especially MGS 2) ?near perfection?, I even found a site claiming it was ?the perfect game? (not sure of the link ? if I find it I will post it on here)
?But, how can they be perfect??
I back up my statement with an example of some features in Pro Evolution Soccer:
Pro Evolution Soccer ? Stunning visually and wonderful game-play, but is it perfect?
All answers point to ?No? ?
- Take for example, the quality of the commentary, the one-line statements by Chris James and Terry Butcher (at halftime, during the game and at fulltime) are woeful together with the delayed reactions to certain crunching tackles, delightful skills and amazing goals.
- Some areas of the motion capture lets the game-play down (some valid points expressed in the topic ?when the master returns? ? Authored by Pro Evo) for example you know where the opposition is going to pass it but you can't move your player to intercept it and you receive the ball, make a couple of turns to protect it, look around for support a no-one is making a run.
- The is no referee (only shown when producing cards) and no linesman whilst playing the game (I think it is hoped by many that in a perfect world there wouldn?t be one in real football!)
- The practice sessions are very tedious and tend to get boring after a while. David Beckham Soccer is the best Training schedule I?ve ever seen in a game but that game has poor playability,..
Which bring?s me back to my original thinking?
Have these implications not been addressed to try and make other areas of the game ?perfect??
Do you think this topic is being unfair in trying to analyse too much into the ?perfect game? or is this just something that we will always have to live with and that no game will ever be perfect? Do you have any similar ?thinking? into similar games which have tried to ?match reality? and ?perfection? but not quite lived up to it?
Perfect or not so perfect, we are blessed with some of the best games that have ever come out ? lets enjoy that factor.

Pro Evo & Cricket 2002 & SSX Tricky are very realistic types of game's and they are based on something we can do in real life whther it be play football in the park or professionally, if not its helps us think more about atrategy's that we could possible use in real life
For a start, there will always be some aspect of the real world that cannot be created in the game world. Whether it be the emotion in a 50,000 football crowd, the physical pain of a car smash, or simply treading in a doggy chocolates walking down the street.
Secondly, reality doesn't necessarily make a good game experience. Certain things are usually left out or put in to improve gameplay experience. MGS2 has a high level of detail, but it's nowhere near reality. You can be shot multiple times without dying, and heal yourself. Neat trick if you can manage that in the real world. But it doesn't stop it being an enjoyable game. GTA3 is a fantastic game, but the police have a very short memory, and exploded cars miraculously disappear from the streets. If you want to see one programming trick implemented in GTA3, look down a street, and if there are no cars, turn around and face the other way. Quite often a car will pass you which was not there when you were facing the original direction.
Thirdly, everyone is different, and has different views on what should and shouldn't be in a game. Unless someone can create an infinitely customisable game, you will never please everyone.
