Dont get me wrong, i'll be the first person to tell you that the Xbox has some of the best and most revolutionary games and that we are promised that it will bring a new dimension to online gaming in the near future. That last statement has suddenly given me a feeling of deja-vu... Sega Dreamcast anyone. Sega's console was far superior in power to its competitors, it had some very good games and offered online gaming. A year or two down the line and the Dreamcast and its games are being sold for next to nothing with production grinding to a halt some time ago. A friend of mine, who used to own a Dreamcast, was looking for a new console recently and although he believed the Xbox to be the superior console he opted for a PS2. Why?? He didn't want to risk making the same mistake twice.
Basically, what i'm trying to say is that it doesn't matter if the Xbox has the best hardware and software in the entire world... it's fate lies quite simply with whether or not it rakes in enough profits. If it doesn't, then the well-being of computer gamers will be the last thing on the minds of the Microsoft executives as they decide to pull the plug.
What do you all think?
> Another worried Xbox owner i see....
I have an Xbox too. And I'm not worried for the same reasons as Goatboy.
But I have an advantage even over him. Because if Xbox should miraculously happen to fail, I have my PS2 to fall back on, because I didn't trade it in.
I'm smart, me. ;-p
And who'd have thought that a console already £30 cheaper than the opposition would have to worry about dropping it's launch price to remain competititve?
(No, I don't own an XBox)

Sorry, I didn't read that bit.
I'd best be getting my PS2 back then eh?
Heh
Why?
Because it's just a games console.
But, as you mention, money is the reason.
And Microsoft has all the money in the world.
They could buy Nintendo if they wanted to.
They will not fail, they never fail at anything.
Hell, they even took on the Supreme Court and won.
"Throwing in the towel"?
The day Gates backs down and admits defeat is the day I buy another console from Nintendo.
Hey, its just my opinion. To be honest, I hope that what i've written doesn't come true as i think the Xbox is a cracking console. But business does revolve around money. Its just the way the world is unfortunately.
But hey, that's just me.
