I've always wanted to be a skateboarder. I dress in that kind of gippo style and I say 'cool' as lot, so I'm bound to be good at it - but I can't afford a board to break my neck on :(

So my solution is this:
Whilst walking home from the town today I saw some strips of metal that are used to wheel bikes into a subway type thing. So I ran, and jumped, and slid down the metal on my shoes. It felt cool. I had done something that I would probably have killed myself doing on a skateboard and it didn't look stupid either. The only problem was that it was a bit slow. So my invention is strips of metal that attach to the soles of your shoes and you can run, jump and grind things - anywhere and everywhere! I shall call them 'Sole-surfers', and I really am thinking about doing something about it.

Think about it. They would be so cheap to make and sell, and would work on the same principle as skateboarding, except it's YOU doing the running - not the board. That for me is the great thing. You don't have to worry about balance, ollying, or any of the stupid crap that comes with skateboarding. You just run, jump and grind. Yes! That can be the tagline - 'Run, Jump & Grind'. I can see it now. I bet some bright spark has already thought of it though.

Seriously, does anyone know a way I could do something about this? I think it's a really good idea and could potentially be loads of fun. You could even make some that are ice skates as well.

So basically you want to creat some aluminum amoured grindable shoes. I could use a pair of those!

Yeah, there's a link to the Soap Shoes a bit further down, courtesy of Darkus. But they're still a million miles away from what I want to do.

No, you don't see what I'm getting at. He comes on, says he's invented something. Someone says, hey, I'll patent it first and make money. So they reply saying "I thought of that the other day, and I'm going to get it patented before YOU steal MY idea"

Then monkey-man has no case if he complains, because he can't prove that the other kid DIDN'T make one the day before him

Do you see?

The centre of the shoe is arched inwards like the grind plates on blades. The metal strip lines the archy bit, so you can run and have grip while the rubber bit is on the floor and the metal archy bit is used for grinding.

And Soap Shoes have been out for absolutely ages!

They were an actual pair of trainers with 'slips' built in. Mine are little thin strips of shiny stuff that attach to any shoe.

My design sees two seperate devices made of metal/plastic on each foot, to give it more flexibility. One attached at the front of the foot, and one half way (you use your heel as a brake). Attached by some sort of strap/velcro/not quite sure.
