The only way you will be able to record MP3s to your current Mini-disc would be with the normal lead that goes into your speakers from your sound card (unless you got a digital out) either way...you will only be able to record in real time. These New Sony Net MDs can download a full discs worth of music from your PC in a matter of minutes.

I've already got a MiniDisc player, maybe I should get a PC link thingy then.

Its just I might be getting broadband soon and apparently you can download songs in under 20 seconds.

Just though an MP3 player may be more suitable.....

I'd say go for one of Sony's NET MD range

Record a whole MD via USB link to your PC in about 3 minutes.

Advantages of MD over MP3 players is that MDs only cost a quid while MP3 memory is proper hefy and not really that good value for money.

I've got a CD MP3 player at the moment but should be selling it soon so i can get the Sony MZ-N1. This is about £240 but you can find some cheaper models like the MZ-N707 for £180.

My MP3 player looks like a discman. Because it uses CDs and not a hard drive so to speak, I can get literally hundreds of songs on it. I had over 13 hours of music on one CD once. However, the thing is rather large, and although you can play normal CDs on it, that drains the already short battery like no tomorrow

It's also really easy to skip, and with it being so big you can't actually fit it in your pocket like a normal MP3 player, you have to stick it in your bag and have the headphones go up through your coat

My MP3 Player - Sony Walkman NW-E3 is the smallest MP3 player in the world or something. It's in that book of records thing :-)

It only cost me £100 and comes with 64mb memory (about 20 songs depending on size).

Thing is the volume doesn't really go as high as some would like it and MP3's need to be converted into another file type which Sony have made for this and other Walkmans only.

Whole thing only takes a couple of minutes and for 20 song the data conversion is quite quick. But not only do you need to convert the files but then put them onto your MP3 player. As they need to be converted the files need to be of a certain quailty for them to be converted. It's not clear which files will go on or not but many will.

If you have a CD though you can actually load your CD's onto a program provided (a kind of jukebox thing) and all of those get converted etc so much faster. Thing is with that program aswell, you can only check out a song a certain amount of times. Most of them are 3 times but I'm not sure if you can put them onto your MP3 player after that. Stupid trademark stuff or something :-(

It is small though, like REALLY small...and silver. It also has a nice blue light you may like and bass control.

I'm not sure if I would reccomend it though, due to all the copyright things explained up there but you should check it out.

I found my old MP3 player ALOT more useful as it was quicker to upload songs to it and was at a good size...a shame it broke. The amount of memory was less but the headphones and everything else was just fine. Plus you can just add more memory whenever you want for more songs. That one was a Samsung model.

So many diffrent models though, you really should just go and check them all out. Most in the shops these days don't concentrate on size and so are massive because they have a massive amount of memory on and loads of other features such as CD player etc.

As for the sites where you can download MP3's...it's better not to download directly from sites but off a program instead. Diffrent people preffer diffrent programs but I use Kazaa. I'm sure you've heard of Napster...well these programs are like the new wave of it but you can download and sort of file you like with one simple search. If you want to get Kazaa just goto their Official site - kazaa.com and make the small download. Other people prefer - Morphous (can't spell it), WINMX or Audio Galaxy. They are all VERY simlar though and all get the job done. All free aswell :-)

If you like music on the move and use your PC alot then I highly reccomend you buying an MP3 player and downloading one of these programs.
