Protoss can you please stop posting these 'DIY' topics where you write one sentence and expect everyone else to do the work for you - it's quite probable you do this to get answers to your history essays etc.

Germany were very close to getting a missile that went out of the atmsophere and re-entered in WWII, this would've kicked the nuclear bomb's theoretical a$s (why is a type of donkey censured??) as it could be targeted to be within tens of metres of the target and be fired from the heart of Germany. They probably would've could it the V3, it would've been game over for the allies if the project had got off the ground for the Nazis...

In man kinds history I think the invention of the atomic bomb was and always will be (say we knock ourselves back to the stone age) inevitable.
We should count ourselves lucky that it was the Allies that invented it.

And the arms market: Since the colapse os the USSR the nuclear silos have gone into disrepair (many states in the former Soviet Union are now independant and highly unstable, each with a few silos). This means that it is quite possible that a nuclear disaster in Russia is only a matter of time (well a sencond one anyway).
They found a warhead in some guys garage in Russia who used to work at the nuclear base! Its crazy...

Look what the creation of the atomic bomb has done for us today. A new arms market with weapons of mass destruction. Almost every country today has their own supply of nuclear weapons, which do act well as a deterrant to war, but only to other more developed countries who know how to handle these types of weapons.

Developed countries know that launching a nuclear attack at another country will result in a no win situation, the thing is that smaller less developed countries don't see this. Every time a situation occurs in one of these countries, the rest of the world panic's, and wonders whether or not this situation could escalate to a nuclear attack.

I agree that the allies had to stop WW2 before things got any worse, but the weapons created to end that war, could one day create aother one. Only this time the casualties for both military and civilan would be staggering.

SHEEP, you are right about the war ending anyway, and the bombs were dropped partly for political reasons (Cold War beginings) but the fact remains that so many US soldiers would have died in an invasion it would have been caused more death. Either that or the Allies would drop so many conventional bombs on Japan that more civilians would have died or been made homeless than if the nukes were dropped on the two cities, I am really convinced of that.

No... not at all.

The war would have ended anyway and there was no need to kill so many innocent people with the added affect of mutated children and no idea of what affects it could have on the future.

Although there will never be a nuclear war because both sides know that they will all die... you fire a nuke, I fire a nuke... plus the fact that the dust would create a nuclear winter... need to ask why they still make such things.
