Having written this out, I just realised I can't post it in Prime. So no doubt it will get a load of replies like: I h8 XBox, ur mum iz a bloater, or some crap like that from some spotty oik who can barely throw a sentence together.

*Sigh*

Such is life. Continuing:

- - - - - - - - - - -

XBox is the choice for me, the console best suited to my needs. How do I know this? Well, recently I have owned/still own an N64, a DC, PS2, and an XBox. The only "next gen" console I have not played is the GC, but I am assuming the games to be in a similar style to the N64.

I sold my PS2 to get my XBox, but I stil own the others. Why did I sell my PS2? Well, I found the games to be *too* realistic. Yup. Some people say that the GC games are too unrealistic, but I feel that too much realism can be bad as well.

Look at stuff like GT3 and MGS2, it all looks very nice and realistic, and "ooh! The guards can hear you!" but that realism detracts from the game, for me anyway.

The XBox sits somewhere in the middle, although possibly slightly nearer to the PS2 than to the GC.

The games are realistic, to an extent, but they don't take that realism and make it anal. Look at PGR, for example. The cities are real, but the handling is not. The handling is *slightly* arcadey which for me makes the game more fun. You can string together handbrake turns and slides into huge combos. This is far more enjoyable than GT3. IMHO.

The other major launch title for XBox was Halo. This is harldy a simulation in the same vein as something like Project IGI on the PC, but that is it's strong point.

I don't want to come back from work to sit down and play a game where I'm so relieved to finish the level that I save about 4 times to make sure it's done. Games should be about fun, not a challenge. At least, that's how I look at it.

I don't want something challenging in my game, I want games that I can play for half an hour while dinner's cooking and forget about my crappy day. I want to play with a smile on my face, not a grimace of concentration.

Xbox gives me the best games for what I want. Fun games with a realistic tinge.

But for others, there are games like Galleon (NOT coming out on PS2, interestingly...) and Morrowind that are PC style games. But on a console. Why would you want PC style games on a console? Well, if you've been sitting a PC all day at work, you don't really want to sit at a PC all evening playing games, at least, I don't want to.

XBox gives me the chance of playing PC style games in the comfort of my lounge where I can have mates round for a gaming-pizza-beer session. How many of you can get 4 people round your PC in any comfort? Exactly.

And I haven't even mentioned how much money you save without having to upgrade your PC every 18 months or so.

Or the fact that the XBox is pretty much future proof. With the built in HDD and Broadband connector. People say that the XBox is expensive, yet is the same price as the PS2 at launch, with more hardware for your money.

How much will have spent in total on their PS2 if they bought on at launch, and then have to buy memory cards and the HDD/Modem jobby as well. That's probably approaching £400. If not more.

And the GC. It's nice and cheap at launch, sure. But you'll have to buy a memory card or two, putting it up to £200. Then if you want a DVD player as well, like me, then that's another £150ish for a half decent one. Ooh, look, £350. Hmmm, maybe the XBox isn't that expensive afterall, eh?

Sod the size of the console (another hting people pick up on), it just sits under your telly, you don't have to move it very often, so what's the problem? But at least there's one good thing about the sze of it. The XBox actually looks like it's worth £300, unlike the PS2. :-D

But you may be different. You may already have a DVD player, so your motives will be different to mine. I'm just explaining (for some bizarre reason) why I chose to part with £400 of my money.

So there you go.

I agree with that Phillip guy, release games don't mean a thing. The PS2 had an damn poor line-up, but look at it now. In the past few months the PS2 has released some of the best games for a long time, a couple of them being all-time classics.

To me, Halo wasn't that special. Nothing much better than the likes of Red Faction. And PGR?? I'd rather GT3, to be honest.

He hasn't changed it, it could be a separate login.

SI just seems to write in a similar style - and have very similar thoughts and opinions to Your Honour.

I may be completely wrong, but they seem very similar.

Money's not that much of a problem... but I'm choosing one console, and it's the Gamecube. That's because I enjoy playing that sort of game more, and I know I'll buy more games on the Gamecube than I will on the other consoles.

Like Skies of Arcadia again, and Skies of Arcadia 2, which I pray every day at my Skies of Arcadia shine for the geniuses at Overworks to put every little effort they can into it, and for them to cancel it if they don't think it's worth releasing.

Yeah, I thought you were Your Honour too. I really hope you aren't, because it's about time we had some new decent writers. Stay, for God's sake, will you? :0)

But you're wrong, but only for one reason. But it's a biggy.

I don't think Skies of Arcadia is being released on the X-Box. And everyone should play it, because it's the best game ever.

I could've written something like this. But then again, why should I, when this is exactly my point of view, to the letter.

But then again, I managed to get my Xbox for only about £210... heh heh, suckers.

Release games mean nothing, what guarantee have you got for the future. Remember the N64....

And wookimonster... Why would Your Honour change his name??

Sorry mate im gonna have to disagree with you as well.

PS2 is the choice for me. I also disagree with your 'realism is a bad thing' i love MGS2 and i think it is the best game ive played so far (on ps2). The graphics are superb and it keeps you hooked 'till the end. I have only played x-box once in a shop and thought it was good, mind you , the game wasnt to my tastes. The main problem i have with x-box is that it's so expensive. £300 for the console an a controler?! you could buy a PS2 with controler,a decent game (MGS2 pack) and a memory card with £40 left over! I know the x-box has only just been released, and yes it was the same price as ps2 when it was released, but at least you didnt have to pay extra to watch DVDs. As for GC, which i know very little about, my brother is buying one so i dont have to worry!

Dont want to start console wars but game cube was hte choice for me because of the price, number of games and i had made my mind up in advance that i will get gamecube with having and information about it anyway. Although i still do think Xbox is a very good console, and probably has better specs than gamecube.
