Now I'm not going to start talking about 'the old days' where British consoles ruled the market and fish could fly, this is more of a recent thing. This is about todays gaming. I am not getting the chance to play anymore!

I haven't given up gaming, I just haven't the time! Fair enough I spend a lot of my time online, but that's because sometimes I can be on for an hour, whereas I may only be able to have a quick go. There is a reason why I've had to put my gaming on hold, and that's because of school.

I am losing the time to enjoy myself for the chance to get a few grades on a piece of paper. Right now it seems hardly worth it but I am hoping that this temporary sacrafice of gaming will be worthwhile in helping me to get a better job, to have some decent training and to make enough money to keep me gaming.

Right now I miss being able to put a disc into my computer to defeat those pesky russian's with their trained squids and their 'Iron Curtain' trying to conquer Europe and the world. I miss being able to pick up a controller and start defeating dinosoid armies who are trying to wipe out the human race. I miss being able to pick up my Game Boy to help Mario save the princess!

Thankfully, the exams will be over in middle June (AS-level) and I will be able to return to gaming temporarily whilst I rest through the summer break. No more will I have to make gaming a second priority (except when nature calls) and no more will I have to stay up to the early hours of the morning finishing a long overdue project.

I honestly don't know how some people do it. How they get the chances to go out and enjoy themselves when faced with the same projects, essays and the likes, when I'm stuck at home with pen in hand, writing how the Palm Oil industry was important to Britain in the 19th Century, or how a complex system on a computer works, or how many quark particles there are in an atom.

I wish I could return to the age where I could just come home from school and not have to worry about homeworks and assignments, where pressures weren't so high from teachers, where I could have some fun!

I'm not saying work is easy, I'm sure most of the older members here have had their fair share of work-stress. It's amazing how some people manage to cope through the most stressful of times.

So there we are. I miss gaming and wish I could be a kid again.

Yep, I too have to go back for those four weeks after the exams :(

I hope I can get a job for weekends and school holidays, I want quite a few games for PC, GBA and GameCube and that's the only way I'll get them (despite not actually having the time to play them).

I've already dropped one subject (Maths) because it was getting too much. The school tried to make us do "Key Skills" exams too, which I turned down because it's an extra pressure for a grade which Universities don't always except the points from (if I decide to go to Uni).

I didn't like English in yr 10/11. Though, I didn't even get a mention against me for handing in one piece of English coursework almost 2 years after the deadline :)

Coursework, homework, exams et all have NEVER stopped me from playing games, going out, listening to music etc

Probably why my grades are always so cack!

I know how you feel Edgy. I've also got my AS Exams this May, and I have a deadline for 3 massive courseworks a week today!

I haven't really had the time to do anything this Easter, i've been doing work (still haven't finnished it), been on here, and have spent an hour or two on Zelda: Ocarina of Time mainly, when i'm lucky enough too.
And it's been the same for most of this, but hopefully not next year.
And i've still got this feeling i'm gunna spend all my money I earn on games, even if I won't have all that time to play them.

And by the way, do you also have to go back to school for the last 4 weeks of term?? I do. And we have to go to all the lessons that we want to continue for A2 next year. This doesn't help either!! :(
So i'll only have about 6 weeks of the summer, and quite a lot of that time will be spent earning money - which is a good thing, but not really when I want to play games.

And during my year 11 (last year) I barely even touched a console or computer game, due to the all the pressure from the likes of English coursework!

Anyway, i'll shutup now.

Lucky, wish I could be like that now.

Depends on the job. My dad virtually works from home (he's an insurance agent). Though he has to stick to certain routines, and has very little time off because his regional manager is such a (can not say because no words are bad enough to describe him).

Not really.
I finish work at 5pm, go home and then play video games until 2am most nights.
Unless band is on.
Or ma woman.

Other than that, working beats school because you have no homework.
