"Whats the point of pre-ordering when..."

What is the point of pre-ordering a console that you want on day of release when you find out you have to wait two extra weeks because their out of stock!

I am of course talking about Special Reserve, Pre-ordered my cube 6 weeks ago and got nothing through the post.
On friday i recieve the confirmation letter where i have to choose my bundle and pay it off when the man says i won't be able to get it for another 2 weeks!

you pay a £20 deposit to avoid things like that, and it's not on!
so i told the bloke he can shove my pre-order up his a.ss and give me all my deposit back, and i set off down-town to my local games rental shop, "Choices".
usually choices are a huge rip-off but when i saw a gamecube, 2 games of my choice and 2 official pads for £250 and a promised may 3rd pick up, i realised that is he best deal i've seen all i need is a memory card for £15 and thats £265, but if you get the jedi bundle with and extra game (the same as that deal with the memory card) it costs £275, so i've realised how exspensive special reserve can be.

P.S i'm getting 5 games with my cube, Wave Race, Rogue Leader, ISS2, Smash bros. (when it's out) but i can't decide out of the final two! Luigi's Mansion or Super Monkey Ball, some one help!

and i'd never thought i'd say this but I love the queen!!!
because of her golden jubelee (which isn't until june or whenever) my school issued a day off on may 3rd, just goes to show what a nintendo respecting school i go to.

but even better news is, cos i got my 'cube from choices they always let you take home pre-ordered games the day before they come out, so i wonder if they'll let me do that with my 'cube.
cos they did it with metal gear 2 for me!

anyway i don't like the way i cant swear i mean it's not as if everyone doesn't swear anyway!

I would be surprised if they get it to you a day after launch seeing as though you pre-ordered it 2 weeks ago.

I only preordered mine about 2 weeks ago and I wasnt told that. =P

I dont care if it comes on May the 3rd as long as it comes no later than... May the 4th (saturday = no school = lots of gamecube time) =D

I preordered all my GC stuff from SR on the 2nd of March (over two months before May 3rd) and STILL the guy on the phone said my GC won't come till shortly after launch. However he was really clueless (couldn't see my GC games and memory card, reckoned he should charge me for my GADs) so I hope he was wrong and I actually get my gear on launch. I don't mind waiting till around the 17th but any nearer to Super Smash Bros Melee's launch date and I will get annoyed!

I understand where your coming form. I went down to my local Game and EB asking whether I could reserve a Gamecube or not and I was told I couldn't because they didn't know the prices, what a bummer.

So then I looked on 'Special Reserve' and ordered a Black console (with controller), a 4MB memory card (official), and three games of my choice all for about £305. I was able to get 'Luigi's Mansion' and 'Star Wars: Rogue Leader', two great games and also pay for 'Super Smash Bros Melee' at the same time, and even better, would have it sent to my place later on in May. All that for £305, just shows, whats the point going out and looking for prices when you can get better Gamecube deals right in your own home, here on Special Reserve.

It is a bit stupid that some places cant guarentee a launch day machine considering less than half of the launch stock coming into the UK has been pre-ordered.
