Just a quick post to note that Internet Explorer 8 has been formally announced, and seems to be pretty up to date in terms of CSS ( Acid 2 ). No release date yet, but a BETA is expected in a couple of months.

I've been running it. Breaks msn.co.uk:) Freeola works so that's good! Not to say things will stay the same when the final version gets released.
Looks wise it's pretty much the same as IE7, don't think they've done much in that area yet.
Now us developers will have to use < IE7 and IE7 workarounds to get things to look correct.

Internet Explorer 8 BETA 1 is now available for anyone who wishes to try it out. It now defaults to IE's more up to date standards mode, but you can fall back to IE 7 or IE 6 mode with:
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="[B]IE=7[/B]" />
or
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="[B]IE=6[/B]">.

Haven't had much use of it so far, so I can't really comment much.

Not anymore. They replaced it with Windows Live Mail.
