Hey, i bought a domain, designed a site, and all the rest but neva got round to running it because i couldnt find any good, cheap hosts.

Can you all name some good web site hosts please?

Do you still dial-up? if so, then yes, you need a dial-up network to access Freeola.

okay, I have some BT connection so we pay a monthly subscription and no call charges, but the connection is a BT digital connection, and doesn't use a modem, it uses some special digital box thingy...

So could I still dial up to Freeola, since I don't have a normal modem thing...?

Yeah, you do, which is a shame, but they're still really good domains to have (unlimitted space with any domain) I still think they should have Mysql but maybe only for the paid for domains, i'v never used one though so I wouldn't know about the speeds of downloads + I have Broadband *laughs* so any download is fast, ho ho ho.

I think even if you purchase a domain on getdotted, you have to use their ISP to download. I'm not sure though...

If you sign up for a freeola domain, you need to use freeola dial up for uploading your site, BUT if you buy a Getdotted domain, do you still have to use a freeola dial up, or can you use any ISP for it...???

That's what I'm using, although it has no FTP support, I've found it's extremely good.

I actually find using more than one host is quite good, one for space, one for cgi, still trying to find a reliable php host :) but it seems that i've got 3 hosts running one website, not a bad thing.

f2s were the best, sadly now RIP.

Supanames are £15-£20? how did you get that? cheapest i've seen is if you transfer a domain from somewhere else, then it's around £50.
They are very good though, top range and they have a lot of customer support.

Thanks, i will try supanames, but it looks like i may decide to use Freeola!
