Humm. Although most of his writing was filled with explenatives, he may have a point.
Sega, although I am dreading it, seem doomed. Although this will not stop me from buying a Dreamcast for Christmas, I am already predicting that Sega are going to dig a hole, and forget how to get out.
Nintendo, unfortuntly again, have made a purple cube. Already critised as a "kiddy" machine (But consoles ARE toys!) its unlikely that the console will sell as many as it should do.
So that leaves Microsoft and Sony, who both have enough money to bail themselves out of anything.
Its a shame really, but it may happen.
I only came back last week and was in Kyoto all summer and heard nor saw anything about this.
I played ps2 in shops for fun and left when they looked annoyed and went to the next store and did the same thing, comming from a regular ps it was incredible even though I couldn't understand much of it.
Inerestingly one Tv show covered the next wave console debate in depth. It came to the conclusion that the establihed ps2 would be equal to gamecube and Xbox in look of games, have the best selection or not worse than the others selection of titles, possibly more involved game play due to controller, but and I guess this also applies to here(just a guess) will be cheaper than the others when they get released(like a big price drop on the day of game cube /Xbox release.
I also reckon that as the range of titles will be even better then this will aid its sales.
Finally remember what the first ps(original) games looked like compared to the ones now , yes rubbish ,the same may well happen again.
The only thing that we can be relatively certain about is that PS3 is in development.
Rumours of PS3 *may* have originated from pictures of the GScube, which is very real, and which in the last reports is supposed to contain 64 Emotion Engine chips running in parallel. At this stage, the GScube has little to do with games, as it has been designed by Sony to generate real-time, 3D, broadcast-quality graphics for TV and movies.
It could be considered likely that the GScube will be used by Sony as a fore-runner to PS3 technology, but this is by no means confirmed.
The 'chip interfering with planes' is, I imagine, a distorted version of a story that was doing the rounds some time ago, but it is loosely based in fact. There were reports that the US government was concerned about the export of PS2 to communist China.
This was supposedly due to the fact that the PS2's graphics chips are powerful enough to perform real-time image processing, and it was feared that this could be used in advanced missile guidance systems for terrain-hugging features similar to those used in Cruise Missiles; hence they didn't want China getting hold of the technology.
So what will they use for the PS3.
