You can shoot people with them.
When I was little I had a little gun thing that you stuck into a potato, thus putting a bit of said spud in the "barrel" of the gun.
You could then fire it at people.
But I missed, and left lots of little round yellow marks all over the walls in my house.
Mum was not best pleased...
