I for one would love it, as we already enjoy SSI, CGI, Php and MySQL would be the next step I feel adding much more programming ability to our sites to make ours potentially the best on the web.
Is there a possibility of this in the near future as I plan to upgrade my gaming site and the inclusion of MySQL would dramatically improve the look and funtionalty of my site and Im sure many others.
So can we have it and when :)
It would be nice to have access to one, as I would like to expand my skills in that area.
I guess the problems from SR's point of view is the admin side of it. If they offer MySQL, they have to take time to set up DBs for people (or write some sort of admin system to handle it), they need to provide support for it in terms of answering user queries, making sure the server is running correctly, monitoring usage (people with DBs that are too big, using them for inappropriate means etc.) and so on.
As they say, time is money and this is essentially a free service so perhaps its not worth it to them.

Chris.
You should use Freeola then, you'll get the cgi-bin still, but unlimited space, and PHP. And if this works , MySQL :o)
Maybe your right about the cost of MySQL, but I was always under the impression it was a freeebie like PHP was.
Andy, is there any other reasons for Tony saying no???

I think if Freeola used Mysql they'd be a damn fine host, shame you can't log onto them with Broadband.
Pretty sure Mysql isn't cheap to run though, so they'd more than likely need to charge for it.
ok, meaning what exactly???
