"Who thinks the PS2 dvd player is a good one?"

I mean, yea its cool that there is one there, but is it a good one? dvd players these days are pretty nifty pieces of machines and come for fairly cheap prices, but the PS2 one is fairly sloppy in ways. examples are sound fallin out of sync, and only basic options durin the play of a film.
just wonderin if anyone there thinks that its acually a good player?

If it's a games console with DVD capabilities you want, then get an XBox. I have a PS2 and had an XBox (took it back cos' it broke!!! LOL!). Anyway, I can safely say that DVD playback on PS2 sucks. There are lip sync problems and the picture is grainy, plus you have to mess about with the sound output cos' unless you don't, you have to turn the TV right up to hear it, then you forget and get deafened by normal TV!!!

XBox, on the other hand, has very good DVD playback. Crisp, sharp picture and a ton more functions than you get with the PS2. No lip sync problems or anything, and no sound volume issues.

I play my consoles upstairs, but have got a £1000 DVD player in the living room playing on a 36" widescreen TV. Sure, the XBox wasn't as good as my dedicated player, but it wasn't that far off! For the average film goer, XBox is a great option (note that it isn't mult-region...yet!!)

Then of course there is the option of getting a Gamecube, and spending what you save on an equally good multi-region DVD player. The beauty there is, if your DVD breaks down you can still play games and vice versa!!

the only reason the PS2 has a DVD player is so that it appeals to people. Without it, the PS2 is a load of sh:t.

I personally don't like the PS2's DVD player. But that's only because I prefer to use my PC with it's high resolution screen (when compared to a TV) and with all it's different options....
