I remember not so long ago someone made a post saying that we could all use our PC's internet connection with our Dreamcast, saving on cost if we had say a BTanytime connection.

I also remember having to sign up for a disc somewhere online, can I still do this?

Can anyone give me a link?

Did I dream the whole thing? I think Grix did the topic or maybe it was Edgy I can't remember.

Anyone know what I'm talking about here?

Originally, it was announced on www.sega-europe.com that you could only order a Dreamkey V3.0 til 28th February. However, last time I looked on www.sega-europe.com the banner at the top of the page saying "order Dreamkey 3 now" was still there.

As far as I am aware, you cannot use previous versions of Dreamkey anymore to access the internet through your Dreamcast, so you'll probably have to order online with your PC.

However (this may sound confusing), if you're signing up for the V3 Dreamkey, you'll need to already have registered your Dreamcast using a previous Dreamkey version as whe ordering online it asks for you username or dreamcast email address and password. Yo can get around this by borrowing a friend's copy of Dreamkey 3, or as it has already been said, by buying Phantasy Star Online V2 (make sure you don't get the original game).

Setting up your Dreamkey to connect to your PC's ISP account is simple once you've gotyour Dreamkey. Just write down your PC's connection details like dialup number, usernam, password and pop3 and smtp server addresses which can all be found on internet explorer by clicking on "tools" and then "internet options". Put in your DK3 disc, go to "get online/setup" (or whatever it says :) ) and fill in those details you just wrote down w prompted. You can choose to manually enter your password each time (as I do) so th one can use your Dreamcast online without your permission, or you can set it to remeee password. all information you entered will be saved to your VMU so next time you usy DK3, you can connect straight away without having to enter all those details again.

F those who are unsure, you can access the internet on the Dreamcast with just a conl. Though I highly reccomend you get a keyboard at least (which you can select as yourre gift with reddies or by joining Special Reserve if I can remember correctly). I don't emouse as you can use either the arrow buttons on the keyboard, or the 3D stick of a toller instead, but if you were to try and type anything, you'd have to select each lett h the controller which would very quickly seem tedious and pointless. I myself have tyethis on the Dreamcast - can you imagine how long it would have taken me to do so wio a Dreamcast keyboard?

T DK3 features virtually everything you'll need for browsing the internet, including a ba button, reload, and even a bookmark folder to put the URL's of your favourite sites in!However, the DK3 isn't programmed for Java-games, Flash documents, GIF images (the io anyway) or, as far as I am aware, sound files. You can still access bulletin boards, nm pages, type opinions and reviews on ukchatforums and ukreviews and even buy produsoff the Special Reserve discount store website if you want to.

Is a decent little browser that is simple to use, and allows you to see websites. And w ou've got a PC already internet equipped, you'll only need your Dreamcast for quick bsnnd online play with games such as Phantasy Star Online V2 and Quake 3 arena anyway. T only downside I find is that most pages don't fit in the screen (I'm using a 21-inch T ith the zoom on the smallest setting on the DC) which means when you're typing you'remessages or trying to read a web-article, you have to keep scrolling left and right. S you see any spelling mistakes that look obvious in this message, that's the reason.

away, I#'ve gone from just intending to answer your question, to a simple guide to acesg the net with DK3 on the Dreamcast. Ah well, anyone can read this so I hope it helps. :)

Thanks Sadat-X, wasn't there an online form I could use to request the disc somewhere?

Oh and I hope what you say Fogmaster isn't true.

You don't want to make me cry now do you.

You need dreamkey 3 which you can either order from Sega or if you buy Phantasy Star Online V2 you get it with it.
If you don't want to get PSO V2, boot up your current DC Browser disc and when it logs onto the dreamportal or whatever its called, you should see various links telling you how to order the new browser. Follow all the instructions and a few days later your friendly postman wil deliver you a new disc. When you boot it up it'll tell you what you need to know.

Voila. New internet Settings!
