Sony's chief technical officer Shinichi Okamoto recently told famed Japanese magazing, Famitsu, a few interesting tidbits regarding the upcoming PS3. Specifically, Okamoto-san hinted that Sony's next game console may include processor technology codenamed 'CELL.' Currently in the planning stages, the processor will be codeveloped by Sony, Toshiba, and IBM. Tentatively scheduled for completion by 2005, the processor will be capable of 1 Trillion FLOPS (floating-point operations per second), almost 200 times faster than the PS2. Variants of the 'CELL' technology are expected to revolutionize content delivery and networking systems in the PC market as well.

Finding out new thinga about the PS3 is cool, but right now I dont want to hear about them. Im happy with my PS2 and will be for years to come. Im not interested in the future of Playstations, im only interested in future of the PS2.

By 2005 the whole market would have changed so the PS3 wont be much better than any other console, or PC.
PS2 is 200 times more powerful than a PS1. The new consoles that will appear from Nintendo and Microsoft will probably by more powerful than PS3.
