Xbox sales on the rise :)

"After only two weeks ahead of Xbox following the launch of Mario Sunshine, GameCube sales have dropped in the UK, while Xbox enjoys a healthy surge. For the week ending October 19, GameCube clocked up a figure of 5,662 unit sales - a drop of seven percent on the previous week - whereas Xbox shifted 7,319 units over the same period - an increase of 20 percent.
The rise in Xbox sales can be accounted for by the recent cheap packages being offered by UK retailers like Argos and Dixons, but with its flagship triple-AAA Mario title only out for two weeks, the figure must be of great concern to Nintendo. With PS2 miles out in front, the race is on for the crucial second place spot in the next-gen console race and on current form Microsoft is favourite.

How Nintendo will respond to these figures remains to be seen, but the company may be compelled towards slashing the price of hardware in the run up to the crucial Christmas period in order to compete.

This brings the 2002 figures to date to 218,421 GameCube units compared with 215,818 for Xbox, with Microsoft's console well on track to having a larger installed user base than Nintendo by the end of the year. PS2 notched up sales of 23,451 last week, with GBA enjoying an increase of 14 percent at 9,730."

It has got beyond the point where sale news, for me, doesn't really stand for me or affect the way I think of a console.

Since Xbox launched we've been told countless times xbox is underperforming and is doing crap in Japan etc.

I don't care, all I do is look at the future release list, see plenty of games I like the look of and thats it. Xbox selling well now? Means not a lot-things could go back to xbox being in 3rd place again next week.

Notice how i titled the post 'For all those "Sales" lovers out there.....' I just found the information and i thought some people on here might like to know how sales are doing...

Shenmue what an experience that was

I play my Dreamcast from time to time as well :) I like to play Virtua Tennis and when I am in the mood I like to play through the Shenmue games over a period of 2 days non stop! A great console that was affected badly by sales, people waited for the PS2 yet deep down the Dreamcast is a better console. Ah well I am still buying games for it in-between upgrading my room and getting my desired Xbox titles.

Its still beating the GameCube in the US though and even with Sunshine it hasn't managed to outsell the Xbox in the last two months. Ah well Sales Shamales, who cares about sales anyway (bar the companies)? I get the games, play them, discuss them and then buy a new one!

Correct me if I'm wrong but the Gamecube has sold more units and it's been out 2 months shorter than Xbox, the small fact that Xbox is selling more in the UK at the moment doesn't make much difference to the bigger picture. Gamecube's been out shorter and has still shifted a large amount more than Bills Box, they seem to be ignoring th fact that the Yapanease don't like the system and it's been more or less a flop over there.

Whatever site wrote this are rather stupid to be honest. It would be like saying cause the PS1 is selling more in Yapan than Xbox, that the PS1 is looking like coming out victor over the Xbox.

I played sunshine I didn't that much care for it to be honest
