Has anyone read EDGE #89, it has a preview on a game called The Getaway, where you are a criminal or a policeman who has to follow their particular line with loads of driving and action. So what is new about that you may think if you haven’t but the exciting prospect comes from the fact that the game is based in London and London has been grafted into the game down to the McDonalds. The game is still in development but in theory it sounds astounding. Imagine driving round London and looking for your house, you recognise the roads exactly and away you go driving to work. The idea is astounding if they can pull it off it will be a masterstroke. The realism in the game is supposed to be extreme with excellent graphics and a great driving engine. But the pedestrians can be run over, and killed. This results in Helicopters and Police cars everywhere so Moral implications are catered for. But the people will act like they actually have a life, rather than just standing around.

To me the idea sounds extremely ambitious but if they can pull it off it shows just how far the computing world has come. Perhaps holodecks aren’t as far off as we thought!

Ach, don't be silly, i see a great difference between being able to program in something that is a replica of a city into a computer game and creating interactive solid holographic images. Anyway, people have been building amazingly detailed replica models for years, so programming one onto a computer isn't really that much different... I bet you wont be able to go inside every building, if you could the game would probably slow down quite a bit (but they will probably use the same system as Mafia, where only a part of the city is actually Active at a time... the part nearest to you of course).
I thought TFC might stand for Team Fortress Classic, which is nice...

What game is the most ambitious? Every game is ambitious at the start, developers want anything they can fit in if they can.

Imagine that! Hopefully they won't make it too realistic, or it will take you 4 hours to get through Central London!
