He claimed that Microsoft do indeed desire to enter the market, Sony's PS2 system uses internet and Linux, which brought microsoft's attention to the market. Microsoft wanted a larger foot hold in the gaming market and also wished to cancel out the negative effect of the PS2 on the PC industry with a similar system. Yet despite doing well in America and relativly well in Europe failure to get one game in the top 50 in Japan confirmed that Microsoft will not be able to beat Sony. Whilst Microsoft analysts predict that eventually in the western world Microsoft might overtake Sony in the sales department they at this current stage will never break the Japanese market. As Sony gains the majority of its sales from Japan this is very worrying for Microsoft who won't be able to make a profit probably ever, although that isn't too important at the moment not being able to make an impact in the gaming capital means that Microsoft will only have a minor impact on the industry as a whole.
He also went on to comment about the way they are surviving in Europe, he stated that sales of the Microsoft X-box keep falling drastically short so another advertisement plan or a price cut is constantly launched so they can keep the sales up at the right standard. They are also content on proving a point against Nintendo, many employee's comment to reporters how they are 'up besides Nintendo'. In fact they are behind Nintendo and Nintendo have a tiny impact on Microsoft's sales and vice versa so why Microsoft seem content on harking on about increased sales to near Nintendo is beyond him. He is also found the fact that analysts predict Nintendo and Sony being the only companies making a profit this christmas further worrying for Microsoft.

And wookiee it is so sales of the PS2 drop and go to Microsoft, then Microsoft can pull out of the mini PC idea and everyone will flock back to the PC.
