According to ign.com, SCEE made an announcement yesterday regarding online gaming in the UK!!
The planned date is 'Spring 2003' with the games available for the US launch also available, although whether we'll get a free game (Hardware?) remains to be seen.
If your French is better than mine, you can go to the French site for more infomration. While things remain sketchy at least we know things are happening......

He is one of the older members of the forums here, and one who was around when we used to talk about things like Tekken Tag Tournament (a game that was released a little before you were born Nat).
