They've overtaken Nintendo in their hardware sales, they've become the lowest priced games console/DVD player, and the Microsoft logo is beginning to gain trust and respect by the console gamers. So maybe that's why Microsoft are giving away two free games with every unit sold from the 1st November 2002 (tomorrow). When better to hit hard in the wars when you're beginning to get a grip on things?

So your eyes have just popped out of their sockets and your jaw is being held above ground level by the anti-gravitational force of the floor now you realise Microsoft's secret has been revealed. Ofcourse, some of you already knew about this from the announcements of the same thing happening in the United States of America.

Some of you are completely oblivious to what's been going on in the United States, or just haven't been interested. Whatever it is, you may not have heard that two Sega games, Jet Set Radio Future and the X-box Sega GT game, are to be released on a single disc, as well as many rolling demos of Microsoft's up and coming X-box games. I wouldn't be suprised mind, if you didn't even know these two games existed! Even so, Microsoft have kept this a highly guarded secret (like the fact that Bill Gates is really a robot powered by Windows ME), and so, you shouldn't even know about it until tomorrow.

Is this a blow for Nintendo, the company I love and admire? Possibly, although I would consider it more of a blow for Sony. After all, Nintendo have got their hardcore fanbase. If Nintendo were to release another Mario game on the GameCube next year, there's no doubt it would sell out on release day, but the Playstation 2's fans are mainly those who either had a Playstation or PSOne and wanted something they could play their old games on, and who consider gaming to be cool (despite the stereotype that gamers are geeks - don't give them Shreddies or Frosted Shreddies!), and so, are likely to be swayed by the next new fad, you know, like when yoyos suddenly became popular again. Aren't Pogs due for a comeback?

Anyway, it's bound to effect both sales of the GameCube and Playstation 2 when people realise that for either £20 more or £10 less, they can get a more powerful console and two games whereas the only freebies the GameCube and Playstation 2 offer are the instruction manuals! I enjoy a console war, it brings out the best in companies. Makes them work harder, makes them more desperate to please us, and in most cases benefits the consumer!

What do you think? Great news or hard cheese for those of you already with an X-box?

I thought Level 6 of Halo is amazing. playing it first time round is atmospheric, hearing the scuttle of flood-fodder running through the crevices in the wall. (Chills went down my spine, I was'nt expecting this excellent twist in the story line) I loved it when Master Cheif inspects the dead marines video diary.

Amazing twist to the Halo story.

I disagree, I ws just starting to think that I'd seen everything and then...The Flood. Agh. It's worse than keeping back the zombies in Resident Evil, despite the mass fire power I have !

The single player won't completely immerse you.
You'll enjoy the first 4 missions or so and it'll start getting a little repetitive.

The multiplayer side is fantastic though, even if just for the novelty of driving around in those vehicles! :-D
