NOVEMBER THE FIFTH!!!!!
Not Nov the 2nd because it's a Saturday, no.
November the 5th.
Is it that hard to come to grips with? We dont bring Xmas forward 3 days early so it falls on the weekend do we? No.
But "Oh it's the weekend so we'll have the parties early", thereby missing the ENTIRE GODDAMN POINT.
If we're going to turn the discovery of a plot to blow up the goverment by use of explosives (terrorism some call that kind of behaviour), then GET THE DAY CORRECT.
"Oh but it's a weeknight, cant be out too late because of work"
Really?
It's in November, and I cant remember the last time we had a Nov 5th that didn't rain. And the result of the rain? You come home early anyway.
No, honestly. You'll watch the sodden fireworks tonight and be back home by 10pm "It's cold and I'm wet" you'll say and settle in front of the tv where it's warm.
Tonight is of no particular significance so why bloody celebrate an attempted terrorist action by having it 3 days early?
Still, on a bright note at least it means wrong-faced kids will throw bangers at each other (he says as more explode outside), and they do run the risk of blowing a finger or nose off.
We live in hope.

We see people on TV burning British and American flags and call the extremists. We condemned the Palestinians and others for showing joy at 9/11, yet we find it entertaining to re enact every year the burning to death of a medieval terrorist like he's some sought of great guy ?
I mean, outside where I am you'd think the area was having an air raid, there's loud bangs every 30 seconds, sparks bursting, lights shooting though the air, fizzes e.t.c And Im not exagerating, it is like this.
Fine, if you must then have fireworks on Nov 5th, but try remembering what it is you're celebrating. And have them on Nov 5th as well. Stuff this"people don't get the day off for it though" argument - fireworks are for night time anyway, you don't need the whole day off !

Why do we need a holiday? It's a nightime thing, and only a few nightworkers would miss it.
Most bonfire nights kick off about 7pm and are over by 8pm, leaving only gippos and urchins to roam the streets throwing cherry-bombs at each other.
And, I know it's just me, but I find it amusing that we still celebrate the discovery of the plot and the burning alive of Fawkes and his men by, in the year 2002 - an age of almost suffocating protection groups and laws governing that fact you cannot discipline your child - burning an effigy of a man and cheering, dancing and letting of fireworks to celebrate the public execution of the man.
Political correctness dictating you can't have "Baa Baa Black Sheep" anymore as a song or use the term "blackboard", yet the entire country unites and burns a mock-person and calls it "a fun evening"
Dont get me wrong, i like bonfire night, I just find it ironic.
Anyone seen The Wicker Man?
