I have started this discussion to get an idea in to what people think is the best console and the reasons for feeling that way

your right and GTA 4 is SOOO original, when was the last PS1 or PS2 game that was original, ummm..... well there's..nope thats been done....or.....nope....or...nope...GTA the original! and thats about 7 years old!
The best console is whichever one you like playing best.
The PS2 has the best football and wrestling games, and GTA. That's why I prefer it.

It is all down the personal preference. Specs of the console mean jack so look for games you like that appear on the consoles and make your mind up from that. For me the PS2 is best at the moment as I am playing mine a lot more than my gamecube .

dont start this again. each console sutes differnt people. some people like the x-box, some like gamecube, and some like PS2.
i own a PS2 and a gamecube, but i dont mind X-box that much. i find it does not have enogh good games. plus i dont have enoth room, or £300 lying arouind. (£300 icluding game and conroler).
