Great - and I thought I was old !!!
I'm going to be accused of being sad now but hey - when I was young all we had was our ZX81's and then our Spectrums - yes you guys I was at school when they came out ! I did lots of things that I enjoyed like Football, Sailing, Canoeing, Drinking, Walking, Camping, Drinking, Rock Climbing, Abseiling, Drinking, Trials Riding, Go-Karting, Drinking etc etc (yes I did drink alot of tea when I was a boy !)
I certainly didnt miss out when I was young but as I see it the only disadvantage you have now is that you are not as fit as you should be - Leave your consoles alone and get outside you lazy so and so's !
I can't imagine not having consoles around to play on nowadays - as long as you try and keep a balance and dont let it become all consuming then it is a great and relaxing pasttime - It keeps the youngsters off the streets which has to be better than these poor kids who are becoming alcoholics at the age of 14 and 15. They are also sociable things - We have some great nights when the Brother-in-laws come round.
I loved playing on a PSone and I really considered playing games a treat back when I didnt have a computer or an internet connection. i did used to read a lot of books too..I remember locking myself up in the bathroom (it was the warmest place in teh house) and read, read, read. I am not a bod or anythign, I just loved reading...
Then when the schoolwork started to put pressure on me, I learned to move away from my PSone..I could resist playing it despite this being very difficult. Then I got a PS2 for my birthday. I was of course delighted, but I also understood how important schoolwork was. In the past few months I was totally flooded with coursework, and I often didnt play my PS2 for over a week at a time. And as of now, I can do without it. But the important thing is that I really love my PS2 and would feel a bit emptier if I wouldnt own. Its just when you got something you dont really pay much attention to it...If I wouldnt have a PS2 I would also be upset.
Now I give myself enough time to study, read, listen to radio and watch TV. I play on PS2 whenever I feel like it and I guess that will be the case for a while yet. But there is one hting I am confident of. I will still play computer games even when I will be 30....
Ooh, so games are more interactive. Its just like holding the TV remote, but different.
Gah.

Bah.
But is gaming getting a bit out of control? Loads and loads more games are being produced nowadays, and some are getting so much like real life that we dont need to live our own life. could that be a possibility in the future? we just live our life through games and become a little creature under the covers bashing our controller nonsensically - kind of like gollum in Lord of the rings!
