2) Consistency. Every XBox owner has got a hard drive, so you are guaranteed that it will get used, unlike the Hard Drive that the PS2 will get. Same goes for broadband capabilities.
3) Technical ability. You don't need me to tell you that the XBox is technically far superior to the PS2 do you?!! Hell, it should be given that PS2 is 2 years old!!
4) The games. XBox has had the strongest launch line-up ever, both in terms of quality and quantity. HALO is *THE* best single player FPS ever released, on any system, anywhere! Rallisport Challenge re-wrote the graphical rules for arcade rally games, and even old-timers like Dave Mirra 2 got a whole new face lift, just because they can!!
5) Hard-drive. £27 for an 8Mb memory card is extortion if you *need* to buy one, which you do for PS2. With XBox, you have got 2Gb = 50,000+ blocks of storage built-in. Only if you want to swap game saves with friends will you need a memory card. The hard-drive also means faster loads and the ability to rip your own music to it for inclusion in games.
6) 60Hz mode. *EVERY* game supports it, so if your TV is up to it, no more shoddy PAL conversions!
7) The controller. Despite what people say, it is actually very comfortable, and well suited to hours glued to the TV playing games. The triggers are superb, and make playing driving games a dream.
8) Sound. This is almost an area that beats the graphics!! Built in Dolby Digital 5.1 means if you are plugged into an appropriate amplifier, you will get the richest sound possible. Even HALO on a normal TV sounds very cinematic.
9) DVD playback. Way better than the PS2 both in terms of picture quality and functions available. Well worth the extra £30 for the remote.
10) It's backed by Microsoft. You either love em' or hate em', but there is no denying that they are in it for the long ride, and won't accept failure as an option. They built the best gaming machine for the best games, period.
Phew...my first imressions of the machine are that it is totally awesome, living up to all the hype and then some. I would keep your PS2 if you can, because each will have exclusives, but if you can't afford to, or only want one console, then XBox surely has to be the one.
