Secret packages? WTF?. The taxi ect missions are optional
People should give it a longer go, rather than taking it purely at face value. Admittedly, games like The Getaway with a lot more to them will kick it's sorry [expletive deleted], but if it were on the X-Box or GameCube, we'd all be raving about it.
GTA3 was excellent for about 3 weeks, once the novelty of killing people/stealing cars is gone, it gets kind of boring....

There aren't any exactly the same. Otherwise they would call them 'GTA 3'.
If you want something exactly the same as GTA3, there is no option other than buying a PS2 and GTA3.

Rockstar are boring. 'Lets just create a game and then make it 3D and then loads of spin offs in different eras and times. We know nobody actually plays through the games plot but because we direct it to kids it sells.'
