The problem is that it's so long that if I don't hold it out for a fair distance infront of me it drags on the floor.

That aside, yeah, sounds like Retro have pulled it off.
Had 3 issues with the game:
It's just not metroid in 3d
Platforming in 3d probably won't work
Retro seem like they might do a bit of a second rate job overall
Sounds like i was wrong on all 3 counts, glad to hear it too.
I'll be reserving judgement until i've played it, but it's just jumped back onto my potential shopping list.
That aside, yeah, sounds like Retro have pulled it off.
