I am amazed that there are still people out there that can still have a go at the Gamecube without having even played it. I know people (good friends of mine) that have seen an advert for Mario Sunshine, and said to me "Mario Sunshine, thats looks really crappy." To which i simply reply "Well you haven't played it, so how can you judge it?" Nine times out of ten, the person will simply respond something to the effect of kiddy graphics, or that the Gamecube is a kids console. Shocking isn't it? The fact that people still have this pre-concieved view about Nintendo that all its games and consoles are for children.
This view originated around the Nintendo 64 period as nintendo brought out a few games aimed at the younger gamer. One of the most famous is the pokemon series. As a gamer, i can admit that the first few games were pretty good role playing games. I fell in love with them after playing a friends Pokemon Blue. At first i saw the adverts and thought (as most did) that it was a game for kids. But when i actually played it i thought the game was actually quite good. Ok, so the game was made so it was both simple and difficult at the same time. A child could quite easily have played the game, whilst both enjoying it and completing it. However it could also be very complex, so that it could take an average genius to master. The process of picking the right squad so you could defeat any opponent (or squad of opponents) was a tricky one. So basically my point is that on the surface the game was one a child could easily play and enjoy, whereas in truth it was quite a complex game. This shows that the game was not as simple as it first seemed on face value.
The same is true for the Gamecube, people see it and instantly think fisherprice toy, but i see it and think that its pretty amazing. I see the Gamecube and think that it is worthy of the same kind of wow that a Ferrari gets if you see one roaring down your high street. Im impressed (and im not impressed easily) by the line up of games coming out for the Gamecube. With games such as Starfox Adventures, the Resident Evil series, and the final fantasy series coming out on the Nintendo Gamecube, there really is little option but to agree that the Gamecube really isn't a kids console, and has a more that good future on the computer games market.
