From C&VG:
Microsoft's machine rockets 46 percent over last week's figures, GameCube stiffs on a 3 percent rise and PS2 smashes the light-barrier
15:19 The Christmas spending rush began in earnest last week as console sales rose across the board in Britain, with big winners emerging as Xbox and PlayStation 2.
Xbox sales rose 46 percent to 15,102 in the week ending November 10. The sound you're hearing is Microsoft staffers screaming for joy, especially when you compare that figure to GameCube sales.
The Nintendo console sold 6,839 machines last week, a rise of a mere 3 percent. Game Boy Advance remained the star of Nintendo's show in the run-up to Christmas, shifting 15,557 units, a rise of 14 percent week over week.
Now for the biggy. PlayStation 2 sold 45,245 consoles in Britain last week, a 14 percent increase over the previous seven days. And with the release of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City last Friday, you can expect this week's figures to increase again. Don't underestimate, etc.

Looking good!
And with top titles coming out over the next couple of weeks, it looks like Xbox is starting to get a decent sized user base. Looks like nothing will catch PS2 though. Can't believe it's selling so strong considering how old it is!

I love the way that Nintendo users seem to care what Japan thinks. Have you forgotten about the MegaDrive? A console that sold absolutely rubbish in Japan initially, but took off in the west.
So what happened?
Because there was a huge market in the west for the console, Jap developers got on board. As more developers got on board, it sold more in Japan, meaning more developers got on board... etc etc.
Microsoft might as well be giving the consoles away

So? Who cares? Nintendo dropped the price of the 'Cube before it was even released! He may well be trying everything - but it's working a damn sight better than whatever Nintendo are doing.
Also, why does everyone go around talking as if it's Gates himself that is sorting the Xbox out. It wasn't even his idea in the first place.

Then maybe you should stop being so damn biased and pull your head out of your @r$e.
:-)
Stupid people still frame nintendo as being kiddy but look at eternal darkness, Timesplitters 2 and Metroid Prime (classic!) soon to come out and even more to be released Gamecube sales are actually gonna rise without cheating their way by giving away games to sell their consoles.

Maybe not in the UK but you can't test the rise in sales figures in Japan and America. Fact is Mario's not that big over here anymore.
I love the way Xbox users are getting excited over a rise in sales in the UK but when you look at the bigger picture, Japan couldn't care less about it and it's still in 3rd place with a hell of a lot of ground to cover. Looks to me like Bill's had to go to red alert and will try anything to shift his big black monstrosity.
Fair play to them though, if it wasn't for the company then i'd have nothing against the console, it's got a good looking release list and the online plans are looking very appealing.
Ah, bacon sammiches and coke
Mind you, being a female - what do you need a video games console for? You've got the best home entertainment centre available.
Good games already available, excellent ones to come.
And it looks nice and hefty. Controllers are good fun unless you have underdeveloped paws and worth the money.

Get your head out of your-***e boy. If you spent longer than five minutes away from your Barbie dolls and actually had a proper go on an XBox you'd realise they're purdy good.
